PPP-MQM agree to hold meeting in Dubai today
KARACHI (SANA): The top leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the ruling Pakistan peoples party (PPP) is meeting in Dubai today to discuss the current political situation in the country, it is learnt.
According to details Interior Minister Rehman Malik will join talks from the peoples party side while Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad had earlier reached to the UAE after meeting President Asif Zardari in Islamabad.
No details of the governor-president meeting were available but sources said a last-ditch attempt was being made by the government to make a deal with MQM on the NRO and local goverments issue
While the governor left for Dubai on Wednesday night, a strong delegation of the MQM leaders led by Anwar Bhaijan was flying in from London to join the talks with Malik.
According to sources, the talks would also focus on the resignation of the president. The MQM was of the view that the president should show grace by quitting his post and not becoming controversial.
