Did Pakistan's Security Services murder Syed Saleem Shehzad?

Consider, the known and prevailing ambitions to weaken the state of Pakistan in order to create global concern and doubts with the safe-keeping by the security agencies of the nuclear arsenal. One may be able to better understand the primary goals of the foreign forces from the series of events taking place in the country, most notably since May 2011 onwards.

Since long, the countrys first line of defense has been under fire by the world media, claiming the Inter Services Intelligence agency and Pakistan Armed Forces contain rogue elements having associations and sympathies with militants, such as Al-Qaida, Afghan Taliban, Pakistani Taliban and various Lashkars or Jamaats operating in the country. It maybe a fact that some of these militant or Jihadi organizations did or do have support of the defense units, as a part of implied policy, in order to maintain national security.

Wikileaks in 2010 first let out the Afghan war diaries, where ISIs support to the Haqqani network was said to be the only reason for the NATO to be stuck with the battle in Afghanistan. This timed revelation allowed the world to expect only the worse from Pakistans security agencies as they allegedly played double.

Pakistans Intelligence agencies and the Army, Airforce was caught off-guard as the US Marines fly into Pakistan from Afghanistan, allegedly fish Osama Bin Laden out from a garrison town not too far from the Capital city. This commando action helped local and international media cry out creating further doubts on the already defamed defense services, to an extent that pushed the national morale to its lowest levels, as we all lost hope in the armed forces.

If that was not enough, we had a series of attacks on Pakistan Navys transport units, and finally the PNS Mehran slap on the face. The events leading to the PNS Mehran attach were later written by the slain Saleem Shehzad through his news item claiming infiltration as the main reason within the armed forces by Al-Qaida sympathetic officers and it was Ilyas Kashmiri of Brigade313 who might have already created a following within the ranks, which called the shots at the base. Late Saleem Shehzad also mentioned the negotiations for release and re-instatement of 2 Navy men which have been caught and kept in custody as they were apprehended for links with Al-Qaida.

The brutal murder of Saleem Shehzad is extremely unfortunate, shocking, and completely unacceptable. But such events are not rare, nor was this the first time a journalist has been assassinated. His evening abduction from a secured area of Islamabad, where there are manned police pickets at entry exit points, also reasons it as a work of the Intelligence agencies or the Naval administration. The emails to his confidants mentioning his meetings with ISI officials, and his reactions again point to the obvious and most powerful agency of Pakistan.

However, I would like to point out reasons leading to Saleem Shehzads murder as continuation of the quest for demoralizing and weakening the national defense and also because the murder of a Pakistani journalist working for an International online newspaper as a bait to get the worlds journalist community to take interest in Pakistan affairs and write about the dangers Pakistan Army equipped with the nuclear weapon may bring to the world, if not controlled now!

Some unanswered questions bother me, which may or may not make sense to you.
  1. If the ISI wanted to kill him, they would have done it the first, second or the third time he was called by them, why would they be such nincompoops to have attracted worlds media attention, when the defense is eager to avoid it?
  2. If the torture for revealing sources went wrong, and the unfortunate Saleem had died in the process, why would they dump his body in the canal, when our agencies have had the option of keeping it mysterious as with many other beings from all over the country, identified as missing persons?
  3. Could he have been kidnapped and put into a vehicle with diplomatic number plate, or Government number for easy and unnoticed passing of pickets?
  4. Why would the PNS Mehran attackers come in 2 groups, one set for the most expensive and only surveillance planes and the other set of attackers looking for the Chinese?
  5. It could also be possible that Saleem had upset Al-Qaida by writing about them as revengeful blackmailers, under guise of a religious cause, and also by putting their other alleged sympathizers within the armed forces under the radar after that article?
  6. Can it be possible hat Saleem Shehzad was framed by source informing him of details to reveal?
  7. Why are the educated liberal journalists of Pakistan, not willing to identify Saleem Shehzads murder with any other outside force, except they are emphasizing to keep the pressure on ISI?
  8. Are these paid opinion makers, helping to further malicious agenda against the State, through their writings?
Pakistans security and Intelligence agencies in other words may well be reaping what it had practiced and sowed throughout its past, while it is in the collective national interest of the NATO countries that the Afghan war ends with a lasting solution. But, it is to be understood that what is in the interest of the west and east may not necessarily be in the interest of Pakistan and its future, especially once the occupying forces start to leave.

It is Pakistan that has to live with Afghanistan on its border, not the US or India.

The prevailing environment displaying the ambitions of foreign countries for Pakistan, cannot be ignored or taken lightly, and had to be taken seriously by every citizen of the country. It is time for the nation and the very loud media to come together and work to raise the morale of our security forces, by backing them and not labeling them as state terrorists, especially with there is no proof, so when they lay their lives to the enemy for your safety and security, we are proud of them.

Pakistani's must watch out for the propaganda without becoming a part of it, especially at times when the world is ready to diplomatically isolate you.
