PTI stalwarts are under immense pressure to leave PTI and GHQ appears to be successful in their nefarious designs. Despite these party members leaving, PTI as a party still enjoys a huge popularity and stands to take a clear lead if and when elections to take place.

PTI is acceptable to the Deep State, it is Imran Khan that they have the beef with. Generals cannot afford a fundamental reform in this rotten system through which they mint millions and lead a luxurious life after retirement along with their families in the West. PDM is just a means for them to keep this status quo going as they are the biggest stakeholders of this country and most to lose if IK takes the helm again.

Token attack on his house was likely a ploy to create sympathies for him and make him palatable to the public.

SMQ is another dubious character in the party who is itching to take over the party for a long time. His imprisonment is also an effort to create an illusion and to show him as an ideologue which he isn't.

They are doing it to cut PTI to size. However, it will likely go in favor of the party in the long run.

SMQ and Elahi tried to remain pacifists and it would probably have worked better than the scorched earth policy that caused the current situation. It allowed PDM and criminal generals to use their anti-army rhetoric against them.

Either way, as long as IK stands his ground the criminals cannot win. The younger members of the party will be the successors with far less baggage than Fawad Ch, etc.

Any step that moves PTI forward should be taken. Imran khan is the soul of PTI. Shah Mahmood is also credible and loyal to Pakistan. he confronted Bajwa on the issue of Kashmir as foreign minister. He is one of those people who keep Pakistan’s interests a priority.
Everyone knows the army will allow PTI to make a government, in this scenario becoming a strong opposition is no less than a win for PTI.
