As someone rightly pointed out he is famous for his cricket and not his religious views. Its his personal act and most of the times you have to be courteous and let them do things that you may not approve of - we don't know how he feels or what was he feeling at that time so we should not pass any judgments.

A quick search yielded these pics - I am sure hindu extremists must be passing similar judgement on these people....you may argue that they are doing it for their personal gain and may even say that you consider it a deviant practice in Islam and may call it bidaa or shirk or whatever but thats besides the point. The point is that they do these things too and I am sure that if they could freely travel to Pakistan you may see their pics at Data Darbar - some people in these pics I know and some I have no clue about:

Couple of things - there are countless people moving in either directions all the time and the second is that some people are trying to read too much into it - they are trying to find deeper meaning in these acts and I am afraid that its an exercise in vain......

It is human nature and its desire and inclination for the improvement and higher degree of intellectual and stature.My words could be biased in this context since I am a party to these variants. I agree with your assertion that our current idoles should not be misconstrue.

بھائی صاحب ہر علاقے کی اپنے مہمانوں کی عزت افزائی کرنے کے اپنے طریقے اور روایات ہوتے ہیں۔ کافی عرصے پہلے ایک دوست کے ساتھ بلوچستان جانے کا اتفاق ہوا۔ اور ہمارے میزبان نے کھانا پیش کیا۔ میں ان کی روایات سے واقفف نہیں تھا لہذہ جیسے ہی میری پلیٹ کھالی ہوئی تو ان صاحب نے دوبارہ فل کردی۔ میرے دوست نے بتایا کہ ختم کرنی پڑے گی ورنہ میزبان برامنا جاتا ہے۔ سو جیسے تیسے کر کے دوسری پلیٹ ختم کی مگر میزبان نے تیسری مرتبہ پلیٹ پھر فل کردی۔ میرا دوست جو ہنس ہنس کے لوٹ پوٹ ہورہا تھا شاید اسکو مجھ پر رحم آگیا اور اس نے بتایا کہ یہاں کی روایت ہے کہ کھانا ختم کرنے کے بعد برتن الٹا کردو ورنہ ریفل ہوتا رہے گا۔ اور کھانا برتن میں چھوڑ دینے سے میزبان ناخوش ہوتا ہے اور سمجھتا ہے کہ کھانا پسند نہیں آیا۔ اب جیسا دیس ویسا بھیس والی بات جس علاقے میں بھی جاؤ وہاں کی روایات جو آپکےمذہب سے متصادم نا ہوں میزبان کی خوشی کیلئے اپنانا کوئی برائی تو نہیں؟
