I would like to share "How to write a cover letter/motivation letter for university admission application for highly industrialized countries" with aspiring, talented and enthusiastic students of my country who wants to pursue higher education in world"s top leading Tech universities.

A letter of motivation/motivation letter for masters is often required for getting admission to institutions of higher learning. This post will be your go-to guide to cover letter writing and will provide you with a sample cover letter.
A cover letter is also called a “letter of motivation”, a “statement of purpose”

and a
“motivation letter".

Writing a letter of motivation is not easy

ATTENTION:

Before we proceed on informing you about the best way to write a motivation letter it must be noted that a lot of information is available on internet about this topic and you can find a lot of sample motivation letters very easily by typing “how to write a statement of purpose” in Google search bar.Application committees recognize the content of these sample cover letters and can identify the plagiarized content very easily. Our advice would be to use the examples given in this article as inspiration, but not to copy the content word for word.BASIC GUIDELINES FOR WRITING A LETTER OF MOTIVATION:

  • The letter of motivation for a bachelors or masters application should belonger than a typical cover letter for an internship/job application.

  • If the university does not provide detailed specifications, 500 words are good enough.

  • More than 500 words are also acceptable, but you should not use more than750 words.

  • Your cover letter should not exceed 2 pages.

  • Be aware that admission committee members often read hundreds of resumes/letters: An applicant who is exaggerating his credentials or qualifications is caught immediately which gives a a very bad impression and usually leads to their application being rejected.

  • Use standard fonts such as Arial, Helvetica or Calibri. If you preferGaramond, that could also be a good choice. Try to avoid Times New Roman.

  • Font size: 10 or 11 is fine. 12 can be a little too big.

  • Make short paragraphs. A paragraph in the cover letter should be amaximum of 7 lines long.

  • Leave a blank line between paragraphs.
ALWAYS PROOFREAD YOUR STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Always proofread the motivation letter for spelling mistakes. This sounds obvious, but many applicants just forget or simply ignore to do it: Approximately every fourth Masters application contains so many spelling errors that it is rejected right away by the admission committee.Especially in academia spelling mistakes and typos are perceived as a sign of laziness and lack of intellectual ability.

Therefore we advise you to give your cover letter a thorough proofreading once you have finished writing it.
Word of advice: Many colleges provide detailed information about how long your letter of motivation should be and what type of information you should put in there. Be sure to adhere to these official guidelines – the information provided here is only a general purpose guideline.

In the next part I"ll discuss about the specific cover letter guidelines for undergraduate and graduate program applications

When u apply for any university they really gave wattage to statement of purpose as marks and grades awarding criteria r different for different uni around the world so it is hard for them to know where is it easy to get good grade ,, Therefore these uni focus on statement of purpose written by individually .

What stupidity is this ?
Why should one avoids Times New Roman ?
Who told you font size 12 is too big ?

I'll give you one advice: ALWAYS BE SPECIFIC AND GIVE EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ABOUT YOURSELF. If you do not have command over the English language write it in Urdu and get it translated. Google is your friend.

What would be the benefit of getting admission in a good University if one cannot write a statement of purpose.

bcz Top US universities are flooded by Chines and Indian guyss u will hardly seen any Paki in TOP university. Paki guys should do the same course as they are doing and getting the best jobs in world. U know Microsoft Chief is Indian and in NASA 36% employes rae Indians and every where in US department Indian r working bcz they got accepted in top schools in US.

My dear get the basics right - We have to inculcate in our students the thirst of knowledge just for its own sake - Mathematics, Physics, Logic, Philosophy and above all Ethics. If we can revive this passion everything else will automatically fall into place. The idea of education cramped in these TOP UNIVERSITIES is fast eroding as online resources grow at a meteoric pace. I am not saying one should not vie to go these institutions of repute but employing unethical means destroys the whole purpose of it.

I'll just give you an example. If you are an ace programmer, it does not matter even if you have never been to a school - Jobs will be looking for you rather than the other way around.

@Okara Bull

I agree with you to some extent on the importance of letter, though the actual test of one's abilities starts after the admission and goes on until he finishes his/her degree, but getting admission in a top class university is an art in itself. I have seen many not so bright Indian students with scholarships in top universities but when you dig it deep then you find out that they know how to get admission in those universities. Even for technical phone interviews they hire someone and get into the industry which was a shocker for me.......

Bro go on source and read the full article, it is mentioned that different universities have different rules and sometimes they don't accept Times Roman etc, there is nothing wrong with these fonts. Same point applies to the size of font.
