Nawaz grew up in Gen Zia’s nursery.Had Gen Jilani and Gen Zia not nurtured Nawaz,Pakistan could have been a very different country today.No doubt Tulli was close to army generals but this was much later.He was an activist when he was in college.He was actively involved against the regime of Gen Ayub Khan.He went to jail as a youngster.Nawaz was a nobody.He was not involved in any political or social movement.He paid bribes to Gen Jilani to get access to Gen Zia.The biggest mistakes made by Zia were the murder of Bhutto and appointing Nawaz as finance minister of Punjab.
