Tillakaratne Dilshan's brutal 106 in just 92 balls helped Sri Lanka to an upset 55-run win over the fancied the home team, South Africa, in the opening match of the Champions Trophy. The in-form opener put on 158 with captain Kumar Sangakkara (54), while a rapid 77 from Mahela Jaywardene took Sri Lanka to 319-8. Skipper Graeme Smith's 58 gave the hosts a platform, but a devastating Ajantha Mendis spell (3-30) halted proceedings for the hosts at 206-7 when rain ended play. Pakistan made hard work in beating the West Indies by 5 wickets after bowling them out for just 133. Left-arm seamer Mohammad Aamer claimed 3-24 as the under-strength Windies were left tottering at 47-7 in the 15th over. Only a maiden one-day fifty from Nikita Miller, who hit six fours and a six in 51, stood in the way of disaster for the Windies. In reply, paceman Gavin Tonge took 4-16 to rattle Pakistan before Umar Akmal (41 not out) and stand in skipper Shahid Afridi (17 not out) took them to victory with a 58 run partnership. South Africa bounced back into contention in a must-win game with a five-wicket triumph over New Zealand. Wayne Parnell took a career best 5 wickets as New Zealand were all out for 214 in 47.5 overs with Ross Taylor top-scoring with six fours and two sixes in his 72. Skipper Ricky Ponting hit 79 before his side slumped to 171-7 in the 40th over. Mitchell Johnson then provided a late spark with an unbeaten 73 from 47 balls (3 sixers, 8 fours) as Australia got to 275-8 to beat West Indies by 50 runs. Malik century delivers win over India: ICC Champions Trophy (Centurion)

Shoaib Malik's superb 128 (126 balls) set up a 54-run win over India. Malik and Mohammad Yousuf (87) put on 206 together after a watchful start and then cut loose in the last 15 overs to take Pakistan's score to an imposing 302-9. India had an opportunity to win the game, but Raina's (46 in 41 balls) in the 35th over put paid to their chances. When Rahul Dravid (76 in103 balls) was seventh out in the 42nd over, India quickly lost their way to be all out for 248 with five overs and one ball remaining.
