Are they open about their finances?

As far as political issues are concerned, I have no sympathies with current Saudi Rulers. But from religious point of view, these rulers have done incredible job by keeping the Holy Land clean of all kind of biddat and SHIRK which is widely spread in Pakistan and other Islamic countries.

I will pray to Allah may Allah give hidayat to current Saudi rulers to rule their country with the spirit of Islam. And may they leave thier Lavish life style and serve the country in the same way as example set by Khalifa Rashideen (Aameen).

It is very easy for Allah to replace them with different rulers who will continue to keep the Land of Islam free of Biddat and Shirk and still serve the country with true Spirit of Islam.

It is not a mystery to know that only Shia and innovators (بدعتی) hates Saudi ruler not due to political reason but because these Saudi ruler are very strict to prohibit any SHIRKIA activity in their Holy Land. Shia and innovators (بدعتی) will Isha-Allah keep on burning inside till the day of judgment but they will never be able to perform their SHIRKIA activities in the Holy Land (Aameen), Insha-Allah.

There is no denial that "AMR BIL MAROOF NAHI Anil MUNKIR" is the basic lesson of Islam to be adhered. In early 90’s I personally found the Mutawa’s (Religious personnel) very active in its enforcement.

Due to their lack of communication in other languages and because of an apathetic approach they sometimes became the laughing stock among foreigners working there in Saudi-Arabia. For better understanding, an incidence is being reported (witnessed immediately after Gulf War, in Al-Khobar). Personnel related with "AMR BIL MAROOF NAHI Anil MUNKIR" were very active during prayers time and ensured that all businesses are closed and the individuals have come outside offices and other establishment/shops. It happened at noon time that Muslims were moving towards Mosques and the Mutawa’s riding in a jeep were announcing (on microphone) Yellah! Yellah! (Move-Move).

It was in downtown Alkhobar (Near PIA Office) when they spotted a Sikh (Photographer) standing outside his shop on pavement. They moved their leather whip towards him and start shouting Yellah! Yellah! Asking him to move for prayer, in the nearby mosque. Neither he nor others were able to explain and make them understand that the person is a non Muslim (Having trimmed hair / beard). Eventually, they forcefully guided him towards Ham’am and guided that how to do ablution and afterward took him along, in the mosque for prayer. Only Allah (SWT) knows better whether our ‘Zuhar’ prayer was accepted or not as majority of worshipers couldn't hold back their smile even while offering their prayer. Reason was simple neither we were able to speak Arabic nor they understood English.

Later, when Americans got settled and lost their tolerance they got control over Mutawa’s (Associated with AMR BIL MAROOF NAHI Anil MUNKIR) and they were never seen again thereafter in Al-Khobar. It was rumored that they got air lifted in helicopters and were dropped in midst of the desert with help and consent of the Custodian of two holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz.

-Honestly a shameful account but then its with a purpose & noble gesture!

It's not a family in the traditional mom, dad, brothers, sisters, Cousin Oliver sense. The kingdom's founder, Abd-al Aziz Ibn Saud, had to do a lot of marrying of rivals' daughters to unite the Arabian Peninsula under his rule. He had 22 wives and 48 sons. Since kicking the bucket in 1953, Ibn Saud's kiddies have continued the "if the tent is a rockin', don't come-a-knockin'" tradition. Now there's something like 30,000 of them -- all of whom use the national treasury as their personal checking account.

At the same time, the country's nonroyal population is booming. In exchange for giving up all political freedom to an absolute monarchy, Saudi citizens expect much generosity from the government (housing, health, jobs, etc.). But pretty soon, there won't be enough oil revenue for everyone to live well. When that happens, Saudi royal rule will likely falter. Per capita income in Saudi Arabia has already fallen from nearly $29,000 in 1981 to less than $7,000 now.

That's the rock. Here's the hard place: If the royal family starts liberalizing its social structure to cope with the fact that its socioeconomic bargain is running short of cash, it will run afoul of the fundamentalist Wahhabi religious establishment that resents anything remotely resembling Western-style democracy. If the royals piss off the religious establishment enough, they can expect that the hatred typically directed at the West and Israel will then be directed at them.

In other words, a revolution in Saudi Arabia is a question of when, not if.

Democracy in Islam is a controversial issue. Some Muslims don't believe in the Western Democratic System, and others do.

After the death of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, each one of the four Caliphs who ruled after him, differed from one another about the leadership. Let us briefly examine what they did:


1- Abu Baker was elected by the majority of the Muslims right after the death of Prophet Muhammad. He however, served until he died.


2- Omar was given the leadership by Abu Baker. Muslims were not given the opportunity to vote for Omar or for anyone else. Omar was imposed upon them.


3- Uthman became the leader in an awkward way. Omar had 6 elected representatives from the Muslims, and he purposely made their number even, to vote for the next Caliph or leader, because Omar was very sick and was about to die. Three of those representatives voted for Uthman and the other three voted for somebody else. Ironically, Omar brought his son, who had no political influence or power and didn't represent anyone what so ever, and he had him choose between Uthman and his competitor. Omar's son chose Uthman, and this is how Uthman became the leader.


4- Ali became the leader after revolutionists killed Uthman for causing so much corruption by bringing his family to power and gave them all kinds of wealth from the Muslims' State's Wealth. They simply voted for him and he became the leader. Hell broke loose after wards, because Muslims thought that Ali killed Uthman. The famous battle of Camel was declared and around 60,000 Muslim lives were lost in that terrible war.
So, who's foot steps should we follow? Clearly, all of them differed from one another, and there is no set standards that we could follow from the four Caliphs. Please see Non of the four Caliphs was really perfect! Rebuttal to the Muslim Sunni and Shia sects.

Elections were practiced at two occasions. Abu Baker and Ali were certainly elected by the majority of the voters. The question, however, remains: For how long should a leader rule?

Which is better, one leader for life, or several ones?
