Congratulations to India.

As usual people from our side of the border who think patriotism cannot be achieved without denigrating everything India does are going on and on with the lame stuff like toilets and poverty and USA/USSR did this 50 years ago excuses.

The effect of this success will be that the leading space agencies like NASA and ESA will start collaborating with ISRO on a much wider scale and will give them more business and in turn more transfer of technology. The low cost of this mission is also another major incentive for foreign private and public space companies to come to India.

But yes, its more important for us Pakistanis to belittle them for the fact that they dont have sufficient toilets. Genius argument.

Is this thread owner gone crazy? Why should all sub continent rejoice on India's success? Let them be happy on their achievement. What does it have to do with us? Their media is not tired of bashing us 24/7. They are increasing animosity towards Pakistan on daily basis, what do you want to celebrate for India? There should be a level to how much insult we should face from them

[h=1]'Namaste', 'Howdy': Mangalyaan, Curiosity Rover engage in space talk[/h]Vishwa Mohan,TNN | Sep 24, 2014, 11.53 AM IST
NEW DELHI: It's a kind of treat for twitter lovers who saw exchanges between the United States Nasa's Curiosity Rover and India's Isro's Mars Orbiter immediately after the successful insertion of India's satellite into the Mars Orbit on Wednesday.

Twitter handle of the Nasa's latest mission welcomed the Isro's Mars Orbiter saying "Namaste, @MarsOrbiter! Congratulations to @ISRO and India's first interplanetary mission upon achieving Mars orbit."

The Isro's Mars Orbiter quickly responded: "Howdy @MarsCuriosity? Keep in touch. I'll be around".

While @MarsCuriosity is the official account of the Nasa's Mars mission, the @MarsOrbiter belongs to the Isro.

The @MarsCurosity (Curiosity Rover) says it is the Nasa's latest mission to explore the surface of Mars. "Roving the Red Planet since Aug. 5, 2012 (PDT) (Aug 6 UTC)", says its introductory page.

The @MarsOrbiter (Isro's Mars Orbiter) is the Isro's twitter handle created on Wednesday. It's introductory page says: "India's first mission to Mars. Orbiting the Red Planet since Sep 24, 2014. Explorer. Loves science, photography and long cruises".

Interestingly, both Mars Orbiter and Mars Curiosity give 'Mars' as their respective locations on their microblogging handles.

The first tweet of Isro's Mars Orbiter was the real-time photograph of the Mars while its second tweet said, " I'll be back after breakfast. Good ol' sunlight. It's good for your battery".

After scripting space history, Mangalyaan starts clicking images from Mars

BANGALORE: Scripting space history, India on Wednesday successfully placed its low-cost Mars spacecraft in orbit around the red planet in its very first attempt, breaking into an elite club of three nations.

The Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft kept its tryst with the red planet after the hibernating main 440 Newton Liquid Apogee Motor (LAM) and eight thrusters on board were ignited for 24-minutes from 7.17am that slowed its benumbing speed to be smoothly captured into the Martian orbit.

The make-or-break tricky manoeuvre carried out with clockwork precision on the refrigerator sized spacecraft as planned was watched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who exultantly described it as "a historic occasion", saying the country has achieved the "near impossible".

"Today MOM has met Mangal (Mars). Today Mangal has got MOM. The time this mission was short named as MOM, I was sure that MOM won't disappoint us," Modi said, declaring the mission's success after nerve-wracking final moments at Indian Space Research Organization's command centre here. The speed of the spacecraft was reduced from 22.14 kilometres per second to 4.4 kilometres per second at the ultimate point in its 666 million-km-long travel in relation to the red planet to be captured by the Martian orbit.

"Images are clicked. Data is downloaded. Process is going on," a top Isro official said in the evening when asked whether the spacecraft has taken pictures of the Mars surface.

The Rs 450 crore MOM Mangalyaan is the cheapest inter-planetary mission that, at just $74 million, costs less than the estimated $100 million budget of the sci-fi blockbuster "Gravity" and a tenth of Nasa's Mars mission Maven that entered the Martian orbit on September 22.Scientists broke into wild cheers and congratulated each other after the 1,350kg spacecraft was manoeuvred into its designated place, a feat that makes India the first country to go to Mars in the very first try.

European, American and Russian probes have managed to orbit or land on the planet, but after several attempts. The first Chinese Mars mission, called Yinghuo-1, failed in 2011. In 1998, the Japanese mission ran out of fuel and was lost.

Modi, who wore a red jacket, said the odds were stacked against "us with only 21 of the 51 missions to Mars being successful," but "we have prevailed". "We have gone beyond the boundaries of human enterprise and innovation.

"We have navigated our craft through a route known to very few," Modi said in a speech in Hindi and English, after patting the back of Isro chairman K Radhakrishnan and effusively praising Isro for making space history.

India's Mars mission is Asia's pride: China
BEIJING: China today expressed rare praise for India saying the successful launch of the satellite to Mars was a "pride of Asia". The praise is significant because it comes amid strain in the relationship caused the border standoff between the two countries even after a "successful visit" to India by Chinese president Xi Jinping.

"We congratulate India on Mars satellite entering orbit successfully," Hua Chunying, Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

"This is pride of India and the pride of Asia, and a landmark progress in humankind's exploration of the outer space. So we congratulate India on that"

China has not yet sent a mission to Mars making this one of the few areas where India has stolen the lead in Asia. China successfully sent robots to land on the moon last year becoming the first Asian country to achieve this feat.

But it has not attempted going to the red planet.

Hua also indicated China might be interested in enhancing cooperation with in the area of satellite research.

"We are willing to work with the world for peaceful development of the outer space and make our contribution to sustainable development and long term peace of outer space," she said.

The spokeswoman said China was in favour of peaceful development of the outer space, and carries out cooperation with other countries in this field.

india,s mars mission.is it a big achievement?

indians are now days over the moon (or mars? lol) that they have entered their probe (lol) into mars airspace and its perhaps history,s greatest achievement of mankind etc etc.

lets analyse some facts first.americans and russians reached moon in late 60,s,just a few men went to moon 40 years back and than moon mission was strangely given up for no reason...in 60,s the cameras who took photos of moon surface were less accurate than a mobile phone camera is these days!

so why america russia etc dont send a manned mission to moon?why now when cameras are so high resolution we never get to see a high resolution picture of moon or mars,s surface and pictures always seem bit grainy and not clear?
on earth we have cameras that take startling resolution pictures which even shows a mole on a guys face standing 500 meters away!why its so difficult to get a detailed image of mars and moon and why manned missions on moon stopped 40 years ago though our technology is amazing nowdays!

in america etc more and more people believe that americans never went to moon or something they saw their made them too afraid to go back there.

some people also claim that as present world rulers are zionists so they fake moon and mars successes so people of religion think that man has become (nauzubilah ) as powerful as god so religions are now not needed .(infact even if a man reaches the end of solar system he has achieved nothing!universe is so huge that if we pass pluto into next milky way (which takes a startling thousands and thousands of years!) even than we accomplish less than a fly which jumps from one leave of a tree to another!).

so if india,s mars mission is truly original than we are waiting for high resolution original pictures of mars and moon as it must not be difficult?and than we will send these photos to some experts to see if they are fake or original.

but what i think is that after a year no one will even remember this mars mission .lol.as present generations attention span is short.once you implant something in their small brains than they keep believing it for 1000 years without even verifying the facts first.

remember china,s moon and mars mission last year?remember european unions missions to mars?chinese did not even give photos and europeans gave such grainy pictures of mars /moon that an expert joked that perhaps they saved money on cameras and put a 10 dollar mobile phone camera on the probes.haha.

so indians must first provide toilets and food to half their starving population and than do dramas like europe and china etc ( where atleast everyone has toilets and food!).

in urdu its a saying that
..
india chalaa china /europe ki chaal
aur apni dhotee kho betha

Re: india,s mars mission.is it a big achievement?

@mods - If you have to merge a thread at least merge all the posts. @drkjke
Your only claim to fame is that you got separated from India. Otherwise you are on the trajectory for destruction in the coming few years!
As far as India's Mars Mission goes, you do not have the mental capacity to absorb any development due to your regressive decapitated brain.

What people are always going to remember is that India is the only country that went to Mars in its first attempt!
What people will always remember is India is the first country in Asia to go to Mars!

If you are suffering from Amnesia then you probably don't remember your own name, so how does it matter whether you remember anything else.
I am often amused by your inscrutable posts, however there is no fun in not being able to communicate succinctly and precisely. You have developmental problems that need addressing before you should try focusing on advanced topics such as India's Mars Mission. If you are indeed a doctor, i am surprised you haven't pressed the panic button as yet!

Images of Mars sent back by MOM.

It is a proud moment for every Indian at least. It is an excellent combination of intelligence + hardwork of ISRO scientists. Every country has problems but that does not mean it should not advance in the field of science.

the thing with india is they really try to over exaggerate the news of their success, year later you will find that the thing really didn't happened as they represented it.

anyway's we should appreciate the good and sincere efforts of any nation, even if we don't like them much.
