India offers to export electricity to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: India on Wednesday offered to export electricity to Pakistan, stating that they are willing to help Pakistan deal with its energy shortfall, DawnNews reported.

According to Commerce Secretary Zafar Mehmood, the Indian offer will soon come under consideration and discussions will be held on how much electricity should be imported from India and at what rate it will be supplied.

Pakistan and India will hold trade secretary level talks during April 27-28 in Islamabad. The meeting is part of the resumed dialogue process between the two South Asian neighbours.

after stealing our water, they are offering us electricity. Pakistan has alot of offers from china and Iran.. But there is no will... so thanks but no thanks

not a bad deal as long as we are neighbours but inportant thing is how long will it take to give us supply definetely our government will not go for it as here problem is not that we have not enough power houses to produces electricity for our needs this issue has been discussed by many technocrats in many forums in print and electronic media that we have enough power generating stations to meet our needs the problem here is circular debt and the government is not consistently paying to oil companies and gas companies so that they can run at their abilities also mostly elite class and powerful persons are not paying for electricity they are using moreover electric supply companies have no courage to cut their power supply due to non payments also government is always in trouble they are always in fear of being removed so it does not suits them to pay for oil and gas they are more interested in using the money on their ownself to manage their lavish living

Electricity in modern days is considered a basic essential just as ambulance, police, water etc.

We should put basic essentials in the control of our enemy. Besides the very power we would by has been illegally created using our waters, indus river.

by the way, I name Indus river to Paki River like Pak Ocean

I feel much more comfortable with Iran and China, there are too many outstanding issues with India at this moment in time. But if the Indian's are offering electricity cheaper then our other two neighbours then it should be considered.
