Hypocracy of so called liberal secular india exposed badly

so all those so called moderate pakistanis who want freindship
with india and who doubt two nation theory should come to
their senses now and should oplogise to pakistani nation and stop
living in fools heavens and try to build a strong stable pakistan

shame for bloody cricketers too who are just after money they
should have not gone there in first place . Indian can never
accept pakistan and they treat us a their number one ememy
and we should treat them same way too

if our crickers have some dignity left in them they should bycott
2011 cricket world cup in india too [pk flag]

No need to say sorry, if you ask majority of the Pakistani general public they were against any cricket with Undia, but being Twenty/20 champion there was that demand from across the border. Cause you guys also want to milk the cow, although majority of you don't eat it ;) .People like Mohd Aamar, Asif and Shahid Afidi are a class act for this type of cricket. I knew from the get go Indians will backoff, our players need to understand this politics. We should just refuse to play.

Players have nothing to do with terrorism, they should be given the respect deserved for the hard work they do to entertain us. I would even go to the extent to say that Pakistani players and artists should be given Indian citizenship's.

Re: No buyers for Afridi, other Pakistani players at IPL

Personally I think that it is the best thing that has happened to Pakistani cricket recently. Now the Pakistani players will realize that their main source of income will be from within Pakistan via representing their national team. There will be more competition among the players to represent the national team. Cricketers who did not want to play the ODIs and Tests will now be all of the sudden interested in representing Pakistan in all versions of the game. The team will get better.

On the other hand, it has created a great mistrust among the Pakistanis entertainers who were trying to make an effort to get things better between Pakistan and India. Needless to say they wanted to make big bucks too but I really think that they also want to have a better relationship among the two countries. I used to play cricket with some Pakistani test cricketers in Pakistan. They used to come and play in Canada for the international matches. I used to meet with them. What I noticed is that along with the Pakistani fans the Pakistani cricketers used to give a lot of respect and affection to their Indian fans too. Upon my inquiry, I was told by one of the cricketers that the Indian fans really take good care of the Pakistani cricketers and go out of their way to make sure that Pakistanis are comfortable during the Indian tours. I really think that the international sportsmen see more in the people than an average person. They are also more respected and have a greater influence on people. They do realize that people in general have the same attributes because of their exposure to a variety of cultures and people. This is unlike the average immigrants who get exposed to variety of clultures, for example like myself in Canada. An average immigrant Canadian like myself respects all the cultures but has no significant influence on other people.

Hence it is sad that cricket was used as a political tool to humiliate Pakistan. Cricket, which is usually used to patch up things between the two countries and players play an important role in that patch up.

I know that a lot of Indians are saying that it was simply an investment decision nothing personal. They believe that due to possible issues with obtaining the Visas and possible security risk of the players (the militant hindu group shivsena did not want Pakistani players to participate and threatened to cause problems), the franchises decided to not pursue the Pak players. But I disagree. Based on Pakistani cricketers comments, the franchises showed interest in them previously. It is evident from the fact that a lot of Pakistani players applied for the auction but the list was shortened to only 11 players. For example, Imran Farhat was not on the shortened list. This shortened list was prepared after players were discussed with the franchises. Therefore, all the given excuses must have been taken into consideration at that point of time as well. This was an ambush. Nothing less. Lalit Modi played Ijaz Butt and the Pakistani players like a flute.

Who knows? How long would it take to fill this gap of mistrust now? But one thing is for sure. Next time there is an India and Pakistan Match in an international competition, there will blood on the wicket. That will be good for cricket.

Oh yeah.... I agree with you shanehindustan.... I would recommend india should not ask transit trade route to Afghanistan from Pakistan, and due to the after effect of 26/11 you shuld not ask us for Pak-Iran gas pipeline as well...... i am right dear?? But the fact is India is dying for those two things...... [funnny]

I think it was a wake up call for not only the cricketers but for the whole nation. Lagta hai kay Aman Ki Aasha ur gayi or jlalan ki bhasha has started. And by the way Geo is the only channel who is showing nothing about this important news. May be Geo will still be showing Ipl matches on Geo Super.

Re: IPL

Why didn't these Pak players protested last year when their Pak Govt did not allowed them to participate in IPL2? Why didn't they protested against their Govt's decision last year. They all remained silent & accepted their Govts diktat though IPL2 was a private event not sponsored by Govt of India.None of the pakistans main stream sports lovers asked their Govt to reconsider their decision. Its only our Indian Electronic & Print Media who want these players here. But when there is a 26/11 situation the Media is quick to ask the Govt to snap all ties with Pak......including rail/air/cricket etc. During world cup/IPL all media houses invite ex Pak cricketrs as expert commentrators in their Studio, How many ex Indian cricketers are invited by Pakistan Media in their country?

IPL auction: Lies, damned lies and other such balderdash
Posted Wednesday, January 20, 2010

Wealthy people amuse me. Usually hired hands do the spin doctoring for them. But left to their own the very rich and the famous are quite capable of being struck down with a serious case foot in the mouth. Plenty of that was in evidence at what was otherwise an entertaining IPL auction on Tuesday.

In one voice they pleaded ignorance to the well-orchestrated and pre-planned move to keep the Pakistanis out. "This talk that we decided together not to bid for Pakistani players is plain rubbish", claimed Mr Mallya through a pair of astonishingly bad shades. And one franchise owner went beyond bizarre, proclaiming there was "cricketing logic" in the decisions made. Parnell over Umar Gul? Roach over Aamer? Martyn over Umar Akmal? Get real guys, there is spin-doctoring and then there is downright idiocy.

IPL bosses and team owners have egg on their face because they are spreading a canard when they didn't have to. Here is what should have happened. Before the auction began the owners should have issued a statement with a text along the following lines:

"We, the team owners of the Indian Premier League regret to announce that none of us will be bidding for any Pakistani players at today's auction. We have arrived at this decision with a heavy heart and after detailed consultations amongst ourselves. Our decision has been conveyed to IPL chairman Lalit Modi and we have requested him to convey the same to the 11 players who were up for auction and the PCB. While we are in no doubt about the high calibre of the Pakistani players available, our hand has been forced by matters beyond ours and indeed the players' control. We fear that in the current political environment, the presence of Pakistani players may create unexpected security concerns which are best avoided at this time. We apologise to the players and the Pakistan Cricket Board for the inconvenience caused in getting security clearances from their foreign and interior ministries. We would also like to assure the players that the door is not closed on them for future editions of the IPL and it remains our sincere hope that fans will be able to enjoy their resplendent talent in this tournament's future editions".

I am sure the spin doctors would phrase this better but you get the point. It would not allow for a situation to develop of the kind that exists now. Words such as 'conspiracy' and 'insult' wouldn't be used. The lure a piece of the IPL cake would dissuade Pakistani players from saying what they are saying now. And there would be no need for Lalit Modi to appear on prime time television and claim "he knew nothing about this". Come on Mr Modi, and here we thought not a pencil sharpener changes places in the corridors of the IPL unless you approve it!

If there was indeed "cricketing" logic in the decisions, do you wonder why cricketers weren't allowed to offer it. I would concede if Sourav Ganguly told me that he preferred an aging and injury prone Bond over an up an coming Aamer. Or if Anil Kumble told me Morgan was a better choice than Umar Akmal. Both were at the auction, why weren't they fielded? Instead, Shilpa Shetty told us how the man who won her Royals the first IPL, Sohail Tanvir wasn't really worth it. Instead they went for the might of Damien Martyn who is pushing 40 and has no T20 credentials to shore up their batting order. Preity Zinta went on about how Yusuf Abdullah was the bowler they needed and not perhaps Rana Naved ul Hasan who can bowl yorkers at will in the death overs. "Cricketing logic" doesn't become so just because it emerges from the mouths of the beautiful.

Modi screeched "Availability, availability, availability" is all that will matter in auctions going forward. And so the Australians weren't the hot picks this year as well. Point taken. But Australia are involved in a cricket series at the time. What are Pakistan doing? Nothing at all. Their players are available for all six weeks and can certainly play T20 cricket, they won the World Cup, remember?

So it was the presumption that they might become "unavailable" led to this decision. And since the team owners are pumping in the money, they have every right to put it where the investment returns. If they choose not to risk it, that's fine too. All we ask is that instead of skirting the issue and hiding behind shallow words, they let us know. What's that line about honesty being the best policy??!

The auction was about several happy stories. Kieron Pollard and Kemar Roach, made richer beyond dreams. The tag of "rebels" finally being shed from former ICL players with three of them landing contracts. Shilpa Shetty in a stunning blue dress, Preity Zinta's dimples still dazzling a room full of cynical men and the gorgeous Gayatri Reddy (where has she been?!!) of the Deccan Chargers empowered to raise the bid while nonchalantly chewing gum.

Ahhh, if only they wouldn't have taken us for fools!
