Iran cleric lashed in Saudi Arabia: report

TEHRAN - An Iranian Shiite cleric has said he was jailed and lashed in Saudi Arabia last year after being arrested for "raising a shoe" at Prophet Mohammed's shrine, media reported on Saturday.

Yasser Khalili said he was arrested while on pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice and "jailed for 38 days, in handcuffs, and lashed," the conservative Qods newspaper reported.

In a separate interview with Iran's English language channel Press TV on Thursday the cleric said he had been arrested on July 27 and put on trial on September 3, 2010.

Khalili said he has been charged with "raising a shoe" at Prophet Mohammed's shrine.

"The judge had ordered for me to be whipped 150 times in public in the prophet's shrine. So one day they took me to the yard in prison and whipped me there," he said.

Khalili did not say when he had been freed and returned to Iran.

"It was clear that raising one's shoes was not a crime. It was clear there was no such crime, and it was made up and tailored to fit my case," he added, without elaborating.

Khalili said he had travelled to Saudi Arabia with a group of 140 Iranian clerics.

Iran has repeatedly criticised Saudi's treatment of Iranian pilgrims and in January 2010 temporarily suspended pilgrimages to the Muslim holy places over the "appalling behaviour" of the Saudi religious police.

Saudi Arabia is governed according to an ultra-strict version of Sunni Islam and relies on the religious police of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice to enforce such rules.

Saudi officials have denied the accusation, but Saudi clerics have routinely condemned the practices of Shiites as not Islamic.

Every year scores of Iranians visit the country for the annual hajj or the less pilgrimage of umra which can be carried out throughout the year.

no doubt it is a least punishment. if some one disagrees i shall ask him u go to Iran abd raise a shoe to at the QABAR(grave) of Khumainee and see what Iranians do with u.may be the mob kills u there and then. so Saudi govt has awarded very less punishment for this act. this act (if reported correctly) is direct insult to Holy Prophet(P B U H ) and much more than for what happens in our country.

Boss!!! you did made it clear who to throw into Jalti AGG? that Saudi Judge or the Iranian Mullah?

Further who was the witness for the Iranian Mullah upholding the shoe over his head... you?

Or the Saudi Police?

If it was that Notorious Saudi Police, then we know how facts can be twisted.
Ask all those Pakistani Languishing in Saudi Jails. Saudia Arabia System of Justice is one big Crap. It protects not Islamic value, it protects the Kingdom.

If you have any doubt Read Classifieds correspondence ripped open by Julia Assange

We as Pakistani, are some what right hand sided blinded by Saudi Money and Power, with sheer Paki Comulative thinking about all those Non Islamic Judgment passed by these Crackpot Saudi Judges we comprehend that all these judgment fall within the fold of Islam.

Which my Dear is not correct, most of these Judgment passed by KSA Judges are primed to suppress Human emotion, there thoughts, freedom of speech, and ascertaining basic human rights.

Before you label me as pro Iraniian ... I do agree Govt of Iran too follow the same guideline. But the aroma and taste of there Governmental decisions apparent feel more bitter to the western power.

This not the first time, its usual for Iranians who visited Madina.
Few years ago Ex-PM of Iran, Hashmi Rafsanjani visited the Rasool Allah's Roada and he insulted the Nabours of Rasool Allah (our beloved Khalifas and Sahabas) in loud voice, it was Friday and on the Friday Khutba the Imam of Masjid condemn the act in very hard words. Saudi government punish the Imam and relieve him from his duties.

This is very common practice among Iranians when they visit Madina.

Please do not indulge yourself in religious discussion with Shia Sect

In my opinion, it is always safe not to discuss any religious issues with Shias, as their religion is based on cursing others. Their hearts are filled with hatred.

You open a discussion with them and they will find ways to insult Sahaba (RA) and Ummat-ul-Momineen. (Nauzobilla).

Their religion is totally different from the main stream Mulims. The only way we can help them is by praying for them that "May Allah give them hidayat" (Aameen).

i dont belive such incident took place.... ppl remove their slippers outside of Masjid-e-Nabvi (where the holy shrine is located) so how did he raised his shoes in front of the shrine? and now the shrine is covered with shelfs of Quran (my relative told me who lives in Jeddah and often goes to Madina), things just dont add up, he went with a Qafila of 140 ppl none of them reported his missing? anyone who has ever gone with a Qafila of anytype shud know tht these things could creat big messes..... half of my family has done Hajj and Umra (i m a shia) and nothing of this sort they told... but nevertheless if any such thing has happened cleric or no cleric why was he left alive, why didnt the ppl killed him they were just standing there and watching all this... i dont belive this incident... Allah knows better!! I m a Shia and half of my family has had the great opportunity to visit Huzoor(saww) and Khana-e-Kaaba ofcourse v respect it, it is far more holy than Khumeini's shrine! how can Khumeini b compared with the Leader of Anbiya! he is not even close to tht status... sub Huzoor(saww) ki jootio k barabar koi nahi hosakta...

Then Iranian President Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani was on a visit to Saudi Arabia during the hajj season. Saudi government had Shaykh Ali Abd-ur-Rahman al-Huzaifi, Imam of Masjid-e-Nabwi, to take him around the Masjid Nabwi. At the Roza Paak, he said salam to Holy Prophet [s.a.w] but uttered abusive words towards the Shaykhain [r.a]. Shaykh Huzaifi was taken by surprise and his next Jummah khutbah was related to this. Rafsanjani was present during this khutbah and left in the middle with his vizers.

Arabic khutbah can be listened at http://www.kr-hcy.com/multimedia/anti-shia/huzaifi/index.shtml

You can read the transcript here at http://www.kr-hcy.com/statichtml/files/104171414283197.shtml

After this khutbah, Shaykh was removed from the post of Imam of Masjid Nabwi and imprisoned for few year.

First I would like to object to the above post for..... I would say there is no Main Stream Muslim or Islam. Islam is not a River. Its the KUL universe it self. So don't try to squeeze "Wa Lam Ya'kul-La-Ho Kufu'wan Ahad" into a cup.

Now my second question would be to inquire how come some one in najjis condition be allowed to be within the domain of Khanna Kabba?
If Shia are not Muslim, then they are Najjis, so why are they present next to KABBA-T-ULLAH?

We should remember that Khanna Kabba is the House of
Allah "Subhanahu wa ta'alla... so nothing is left to chance. There is a clue for all of us. An indication that Shia need to be respected.
If Shia through the ages have been around and living within the alleyway of Haram Sharif . Allah seems not to be offended by there deeds.

So how come we as
Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah decide who is welcome and not welcome into the house of Allah?

Well... any one can solve this riddle.? or should we say.... this topic is closed for good.

If it is Umrah then the news might be credible but if it is Hajj that they are referring to as Pilgrimage then the news is a piece of trash as Hajj in 2010 was in November and the previous year i.e 2009 it again fell in 2009.

As usual, you are mixing half-truths to concoct a story. Where did Sheikh Huzaify mention the incident that he had heard Rafsanjani utter insults?

I REPEAT:
1. WHERE is the proof of the incident you just narrated? It is NOT in the Khutba!

2. Was the hell would the Saudi king REMOVE Sheikh Huzaify if there was evidence that Rafsanjani had caused such fitna??

Please stop spreading hate amoung muslim brothers and sisters. I personally don't believe in Saudi story as Iranian cleric love Prophet Muhammad and Ahlaybaat-e-Muhammad. Its not possible. As for brothers like Pakistan 1947 and Qasir Mirza, we can only pray to Allah for granting them wisdom, That is how the enemies of Islam have grip on us by dividing us and making each of us calling kafir to the other, Its time for us to understand the move of the enemy and if we fail, the result will be very bad.

6 months back Ayatullah Khamniee (the grand Ayatullah) issued a Fatwa that swearing at sahaba and um-ul monioneen is very wrong for many shia, The fatwa was appreciated by Saudi and accreditied by Jama Al Azhar University. Why all that so.... we all come under the banner of Ithad-a-Banul muslimeen.

May Allah unite us into one undefeateable Islamic force and give wisdom to out hate spreading muslim brothers to wake up.
