I was wondering how fast things are getting out hand for the 'Napak fouj' since they decided to steal democratic hope from Pakistanis.
I will list just four cases to elaborate that Army is helping us dig its own grave at each step.
It just feels like a predestination now, how things are just moving into a spiral that ends with collapse of either the army or the country.
1. Cypher Case:
This was perhaps the most colossal blunder, as it involved something that should have been kept under wraps. In any self-respecting nation, negotiating a soft coup might amount to high treason. Despite many Pakistanis having a short memory and PTI's backtrack "perhaps a nod to the US holding leverage over us through debt and the IMF in the future" it was the army that kept this debacle alive for two years. Now, everyone knows that the army orchestrated this mess.
Ideal Solution: They could have buried this issue by using the media to gaslight the public, claiming no such cypher existed. In Pakistan’s relentless news cycle, this could have been forgotten long ago.
2. 9 May Drama:
Whoever hatched the plan for the events of 9 May should have their sanity questioned. Yes, the army managed to crush PTI leadership and activists, but it also triggered several foreseeable consequences. The public saw through the façade, recognizing it as manufactured drama. The crackdown inadvertently purified PTI's ranks, leaving a core group unfazed by threats of jail, turning them into a resilient leadership ready to endure for their cause.
Solution: They should have avoided the whole charade and maintained an air of seriousness. Their panic in the face of impending elections is understandable, but the way they executed their plan completely blew their cover.
2. Imran Khan's 200+ Cases:
This tactic backfired spectacularly, propelling Khan to even greater heights of popularity. Even those who once thought he was just another political sellout now see him as a figure uniquely defiant against the powers that be. If they let Khan go, he returns a hero; if they imprison or harm him, he becomes a martyr. By fabricating over 200 cases, they turned a serious judicial matter into a farce, rendering the orchestrators of this plot laughable.
Another less discussed aspect is that arrest of IK created a proto-structure in PTI that has a semblance of political Party, before it was just Murshid, many people see this as a bad thing but in reality real democratic parties are always a messy affair. It is good that we can see real tensions, interpretations and tensions within the PTI, of course there might be mole of army but many people who are disagreeing with each other are just as honest as others but they have a different solution to a problem, they can be wrong but not bad people for having different opinion about something. In a way PTI is become a true representative of people, not in true sense but in very nascent way.
Solution: They could have crafted a handful of well-rounded, potent cases to slightly tarnish his reputation. However, they seem to have underestimated the people's ability to see through their fabrications.
3. Edat Case:
This is arguably the most egregious case, where they misused a verse from the Quran to target Imran Khan's wife under the guise concept of Edat which is a sacred solution to an important problem, as it is for ensuring paternal certainty in the event of a post-divorce pregnancy, of course an absurd notion given her age and a self-evident absence of any child. This not only flouts basic decency but also risks a severe divine backlash for using sacred scripture for such petty ends.
Solution: They should have skipped this baseless accusation entirely to avoid stirring further public outrage and sacrilege.
Overall, these actions have only served to dig the military's own grave, with each step further diminishing their standing and honor in the eyes of the public.
All the people now know that if your cross these bastards, your wife, sister, mother, daughter's dignity is not safe from these animals.
Now people know that how petty and childish these FA pass assholes are.
In summary the threshold of people 'fearing' the army has gone down in the last two years, People are still afraid of violence but they are more wise about expressing themselves. Now everyone thinks of Army essentially as 'a psycho joker with a gun'
