No response from Mr. Pirzada and Ms. Zehara and here is my email to them and CC to Shashi Tharoor.
Dear Mr, Pirzada and Ms. Naseem Zahara,
So far I have not received any “record “from you that indicate that Mrs. Indira Gandhi made this statement that is so insulting to Muslims of India and to the Muslims of Bangladesh specially following liberation of Bangladesh.
Neither have I received any response from Ms. Zahara disclosing any information about the BBC documentary she claims to have seen.
When a lie is repeated frequently over time it becomes a well established fact. I believe you have heard it from your pears and elders while you were growing up you also may have heard it from your college teachers and from the politicians at times, therefore it has becomes a matter of “ record “ that does not exist in reality and does not require questioning. Search on the internet shows that some Pakistani journalists have quoted this statement in their articles specially the religious ones but no reference.
Ms. Zahra went a lot further and tried to lend credibility to a lie by attributing to a fairly credible news organizations namely BBC.
I have posted a thread on siasat.pk , a Pakistani news and political forum, called “ is it truth? Or a lie. This thread has been viewed by thousands of Pakistanis and yet not a single person has collaborated Ms. Zahra. This forum is visited mostly by Pakistanis and I believe most of them believe this statement to be true but none have been able to produce any form of evidence to support. They believe it because you say it and you believe it because someone ells says it.
I also contacted BBC in London and spoke to two persons and they both told me that they have not heard of such a documentary. They refered me to Mr. Alan Hayling, who was the head of BBC documentaries for a long time. I was told that he might be an authority in this field. Mr. Hayling is currently an independent producer/ director operating his own production company with a web site http://www.renegadepictures.co.uk.
Adding further to my case one of my patriot Pakistani friends on siasat.pk , cefspan, have used all his internet knowledge to find any thing on the internet to support your claim with no results.
I must conclude based on the evidence in front of me and complete silence on you part that this statement is false and if you can find any evidence to support it please contact me or Mr. Tharoor.
