All members please go through this material, and then you will know Ghamidi's stance on drinking Alcohol...

The answer to the first question is that the punishment of drinking was fixed at eighty stripes by Umar (rta) after he in his capacity of a caliph had consulted the members of his sh?r?. In the time of the Prophet (sws), this offence was punished by punching and kicking the offender, and by beating him with twisted sheets of cloth or with twisted pieces of date-palms. The caliph Ab? Bakr (rta) had decreed that this crime be punishable by forty stripes, and then the caliph Umar (rta) in his own times increased it to eighty stripes when he saw that people were not desisting from it. In the words of Ibn Rushd: ????? ??????? ????? ??? ???????? ??? ??? ?? ????? ??? ????? ?????? ??? ???? ??? ???? ???? ?????? ?????? ??? ?? ?????? ???? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???? ??? ??? ???? ??? ????? The general opinion in this regard is based on the consultation of Umar (rta) with the members of his sh?r?. The session of this sh?r? took place during his period when people started indulging in this habit more frequently. Al? (rta) opined that, by analogy with the punishment of qadhf, its punishment should also be fixed at eighty stripes. It is said that while presenting his arguments, he had remarked: When he [ the criminal ] drinks, he will get intoxicated and once he gets intoxicated, he will utter nonsense; and once he starts uttering nonsense, he will falsely accuse other people. It is evident from this, that the punishment of drinking is not part of the shar?ah. It is only the prerogative of the Prophet (sws) to regard anything as part of the shar?ah, and if he has done so in a particular case, Ab? Bakr (rta) or Umar (rta) can in no way alter it. Had this punishment been part of the shar?ah, Ab? Bakr (rta) would never have replaced it with forty stripes, nor would Umar (rta) have increased it to eighty stripes. It is clear that if the Prophet (sws) punished such criminals by beating them, he did so not in the capacity of a law-giver but in the capacity of a Muslim ruler. His successors punished such criminals by whipping them with forty and eighty stripes respectively in their capacity as rulers. Consequently, it can be safely said that the punishment of drinking is not a h?add ; it is a taz?r, which the parliament of an Islamic State can adopt and if needed legislate afresh in this regard.

According to J A Ghamidi: Punishment of Drinking can also be increased to unprecedented level....

The holy Qur'an does not always call something
haram that it intends to prohibit. It uses other styles of expression. Sometimes a thing is already known as forbidden even through the innate guidance the humans enjoy. The Qur'an merely refers to that. For example you wouold not find the Qur'an talking on the evil of falsehood, treachery or the gooness of tuth, mercifulness etc. The prohibition of intoxicants (not the substance called alcohol) lies under the categories of things prohibited by the innate guidance implanted by God in human nature. That is why the Book does not explicitly mention it is haram. This means that the hurmat (prohibition) of drinking is clearer and more binding.

Answer:We must know that Islam sees a crime and support for carrying it out as equivalent. There is virtually no difference if a person drinks or if he/she sells/serves alcohol to his friends. To my mind, the latter form of the crime is more heinous and despicable since it facilitates the offender to carry out this crime, sets him at ease and makes him comfortable with his crime. It is for this reason that the Holy Qur?n has warned us not to help each other with evil but what is good and righteous:
Cooperate with each other in matters of piety and obedience; and do not cooperate with others in matters of sin and transgression. (5: 2)
Viewed thus, not only the drinker, but also the seller and the helper in this crime commit a sinful act. However, it is very likely that any of them may have been party to the crime due to compelling circumstances. For instance, a person, who is in dire need and has failed to find a job anywhere, may be compelled to work in a bar serving or selling alcohol to others. In this case, it is hoped that the Ever-Merciful Creator will surely make allowances for the person who is victim of compelling circumstances. He should keep praying to the Lord to help him escape the situation and provide him with an alternative. This prayer and his consciousness of the evil will help him retain his faith and also the desire to tread the right path.

Is Alcohol forbidden?
Question:

Is alcohol forbidden? Please elaborate.
There are doubts about the prohibition of alcohol.
Answer:
I do not understand the reason about the doubts. Alcohol is one of the worst evils. It totally destroys the drinkers capacity of thought and intellect. It vilifies the mind. Therefore Allah, on the peoples asking forbade it, denouncing it as a Satanic vile. This should remove any doubt about its prohibition. The term haraam has acquired a legal status in our society. Therefore, people deem a mention of it necessary while talking of something forbidden. Allah has strictly forbidden alcohol. The term rijs min amal al-shaytan establishes it without a doubt.

People might be confused in regards to the alcoholic content. They might consider it permissible as long as it does not intoxicate.

The principle for things forbidden is that they stand forbidden in the smallest quantity. It is only logical. The above argument is self deception. It destroys like the plague once it enters the household. Therefore the best remedy is to nip the evil in the bud. This was the basis of forbidding it in its mildest form. For example person requests to drive on the wrong side of the road, citing his ability to do so. This request would be invalid as it may precipitate an accident any time. Like wise alcohol consumption even in small amounts, may lead to alcoholism. Therefore the best thing would be to avoid it at all costs.

Mate doing a good job but please stop using false language. Ham ne to abu jehel ko bhi gali nahi di, jihalat ka baap hee mash'hoor ho gaya khud se. Then people like ghamdi tell us that we are abusive and overly aggressive. These people can be countered with the utmost of ease. You can't imagine the kind of pride this man possesses and if someone reasons with him properly, he goes berserk though tries to control it and mask it in flowery words.
