The fact is that Operation Gibraltar was going and and Army was anticipating a counter offensive.
This became a US-RU conflict and after multiple UN resolution to cease fire both stopped. No one WON the war nor Lost, both countries had to give away any land that was occupied during the conflict.

Pakistan was a role model for developing nations back then despite all military intervention, in fact our currency would stay stronger or at same level as Indian Rupee and Bangladeshi Taka till 1980s.

Cold War was going on, and as a result of the misadventure Pakistan would face sanctions after Tashkent Declaration. Travelling between India and Pakistan was relatively easier without any thorough visa procedure. But now, it began to deteriorate for the next 6-7 years .
