Those of us, who grew up in the 80s and 90s know Madonna as a trendsetter, someone who is bold enough to step out and make a statement. After her recent divorce from Hollywood producer, Guy Ritchie, she has been actively playing the field. Recently, a young Muslim dancer, Brahim Zaibat, an Algerian/French young man of only 24, has made an impression on her. The material girl is not only eight years older than Brahims mother but Madonna also doesnt speak French, while Brahims English is far from fluent. Observers still claim its love at first sight. Not so sure about that, observers.
Brahims mother was, needless to say, shocked that her young son announced Madonna as his girlfriend. She claims her son does not drink, smoke and prays five times a day, quite commendable especially when youve got Madonna as a girlfriend.
Bottom line is, and the question on our minds is Madonna starting a new fad? She did start the whole Indian/ethnic trend for a while, and as soon as she started studying Kabbalah, so did everyone else. Does this mean, Muslim men are finally in vogue? We have yet to see if this catches on or not.
But in the mean time, all we can say is, its about time. Im sure Muslim men would love to go from public enemy number one, to being the object of desire for women.
