Mahmud Abbass was a western favourite even while Yaser Arafat was alive. You will see his name mentioned with fondness in western journals even 30 years back .
This visit could have been important had not Mahmud represented palestianians and had PLO not been secular and under European influence according to some.
A detente between Sunni world and World jewry is being talked about and infact I was one of the first one to report it about a year back , but this is not possible unless conditions are met.
1. Israel gives undertaking that at least 1.5 million Palestianians will be allowed to settle in Israel proper at world powers expense in the next 20 years with preference for those in camps of Syria, lebanon and other places. without this undertaking detente is not possible.
2. Jewish press will not participate in Anti islam and Anti muslim propaganda
3. Israel will not used as base against any Arab country for third party and general no war pact with Arab league is signed. Israel will not object to development of nuclear weapons by Saudia and Egypt
Problem here is that USA and EU does not want this understanding , they via surrogates inflame west bank and USA extremist jewish groups are supported by US which wreck any understanding.
Arafat was number one disease for Palestianians , he abused both Jordanian and Kuwaiti warmth for Palestinians and when matters were being settled via Egypt he opted for siding with Haefez Asad and others so Camp David excluded them practically.He even helped destroy lebanon by siding with Druze and Hafez Asad . Lebanon would have been more than UAE today had Arafat and Hizbollah not existed .
My view is that Abass is sneaking to know what Saudis have in mind, he will surely wreck it like Arafat on western behest .
Palestianians need a wise leadership now and statehood is in sight so is Jewish -Sunni world wide detente. We and jews cannot be bosom friends as Islam is universal while Jewish faith is practically Racist based. These days using west as allies but for 1000 years Muslims were their chief protectors in their empires including in Spain .
With potential rivals to Islam now not limited to west and can include China, India , Russia and others a change in strategy is needed. jews have no numbers to colonise Muslim lands but China, india , Russia , West has .

King Salman holds talks with Palestinian president
JEDDAH: Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman received at Al-Salam palace on Sunday President Mahmud Abbas of the State of Palestine, who is currently on a visit to the kingdom.
in their talks, King Salman emphasized the kingdom’s firm stance toward the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The latest developments in the Palestinian territories were also reviewed.
The talks were attended by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, deputy premier and interior minister; Prince Khalid al-Faisal, adviser to the king and governor of Makkah region; Prince Mansour bin Miteb, minister of state, cabinet member and adviser to the king; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah, minister of national guard; Minister of State and Cabinet Member Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Nizar bin Obaid Madani.
With President Abbas were Palestinian Ambassador to the Kingdom Bassem Abdullah Al-Agha and other officials.
