Arz Ki Main Ne, Elahi! Meri Takseer Maaf
Khush Na Ayen Ge Isse Hoor-o-Sharab-o-Lab-e-Kisht

I humbly addressed the Almighty: O Lord, Excuse this presumption of mine,
But hell never relish the virgins of heaven, The gardens green borders, the wine!


Nahin Fardous Maqam-e-Jadal-o-Qaal-o-Aqwal
Behas-o-Takrak Iss Allah Ke Bande Ki Sarisht

For paradise isnt place for a preacher to meddle and meddle and mangle,
And he, pious mansecond nature to him is the need to dispute and to jangle;


Hai Badamozi-e-Aqwam-o-Milal Kaam Iss Ka
Aur Jannat Mein Na Masjid, Na Kalisa, Na Kunisht!

His business has been to set folk by the ears and get nations and sects in a tangle:
Up there in the sky is no Mosque and no Church and no Templewith whom will he wrangle?​

plz differnetiate between MULLAH and maulvi or Alim...they are two different types...and whatever has been said by Allam iqbal is for the so called low educated mullah...not Alim or maulvi.! its like comparing fazlur rehman with javaid ghamidi..!

sari zimmadari sirf molvi ki nai hai, q k Allah nay ilm tamam muslims per farz kya hai, ab agar muslims ilm hasil nai karaingay tu kaisay pata chalay ga k kon sa molvi thik hai aur konsa nai, ilm hi sahi ghalat main farq karta hai

It is all about a certain way of thinking and attitude whether one is molvi or aalim or just an ordinary Muslim. Iqbal is criticizing the negative aspect of our religious establishment throughout the history -- how it has taken us away from the real Maqasid ( objectives ) of Deen.

Those who have a positive attitude towards learning about islam, they do respect the learners and teachers...And those losers who have nothing to do with learning and they just need someone to blame for their own foolishness, and ignorance, they find the words 'Mullah' or 'Molvi' best suitable candidates.;)

Exactly. Much too many of us leave every thing to pious neighbourhood maulvi in the name of respect and under the assumptions like 'majority is right', 'forefathers practiced this and that for years', 'commonly accepted view', 'classical ullema of classical islam' etc etc.

IMO it's insult of the beautiful gift in the form of brain (shahoor, logic, aqal) we all are blessed from Allah. No one forbid to listen to maulvis or aalims, but it's our duty to make sense of what is being told to us and it is our duty to verify if what is being told to us using Quran. Nothing but Quran is gurantteed to be true and original, not even Hadiths. Quran itself encourage to think, to question, to understand the message and every single of us should do that. Maulvis, our parents or other pious people are human and by nature they can be mistaken or wrong about some belief. Sadly majority of us leave every matter of deen to comonly accepted view or aalims etc and those who question the views are frowned upon. Islam is not collection of rituals and step by step guidelines, it's much more than that. As Allah says repeatedly in Quran...PONDER!

^ I am not surprised and my post points to exactly same mentality. Typical response to some how silent the other party with the words like 'astaghfirullah', 'blasphemy', some hadith which might not even be proven to true/original or might be in contradiciton to Quran. Further more strawman arguments like 'Aap ne to Nabi aur islam ko alag alag kar dia' clearly portrays how much efforts this guy spent on trying to understand the message or arguments.
