MOU on Solar Energy Signed with Renowned German Company AEG[/h]Updated on Tuesday

[HI]Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif[/HI] met with German delegates from AEG, a German Energy Company which was established 125 years ago and possesses expertise in Solar Energy. The meeting was held as a result of CMs visit to Germany earlier this month where various meetings on energy were held. An MOU was signed between Punjab Government and AEG with practically implementable causes. AEG will start a pilot project of 50 MW in 2013 based on superior German technology. After completion of this pilot project, various solar power projects will be set up in different Industrial Estates of Punjab of 400 MWs in total. The Germans stated that Pakistan has sunlight all year round and if Germany can produce thousands of megawatts of energy with limited sunlight then Pakistan can do wonders. CM thanked the German delegation and invited them to set up a solar panel manufacturing plant in Punjab which would be cost efficient and would lead to job creation. (admin)

Solar power is the future energy source of the world. Pakistan is well endowed with sun power and the sooner we harness it the better.

ji suna hai..mein samjhi kay aap solar energy wali baat pay shocked hain...

haaan , baat woh bhi bari aham hay , apnay bachpan main dekhtay thay kah , solar energy kay projects , ab yah umar ho gayi mgr , solar energy abhi tak "baby" hi hay ,

in 19983 or 84 , students from NED University from karachi , they make solar car , and as test run , they drove it on all Karachi roads , everybody appreciates it , and all start rumors that , now in coming "few" years everyhting will be on "solar" , but ............................................ u right , before innovation , we need to invent or buy "honesty" and "dedication" from whole sale market , then , sab theek hojaay gaa :)

some businesses don't want us to go solar..perhaps if it was not for their lobbies...today's world might have been a bit more advanced in terms of use of solar power..

Solar energy is twice as expensive per unit as Petroleum when you add up the cost... this is just a stunt during election year to get votes... Germany has millions of technicians working in the solar fields... where is Pakistan going to go for maintenance and repair of the solar panels?
PMLN is start going to claim credit for this even before the results are in front of us. Mark my words nothing positive is going to come from this. Look at the percentage of energy made in the world from solar even rich countries do not go for it as it is expensive, but that does not deter showbaz sharif.

Pakistan needs an urgent supply at par or less with energy produced with oil and solar energy is much cheaper in comparison with oil based sources like Rental units.

Major factor in determining the cost per unit is age of Solar units and that is why Germany is chosen and not China as Chinese are much cheaper but life of units is less half and high maintenance.

Siemens Exits Solar
Siemens AG (SIE) plans to give up its unprofitable solar-energy business after failing to turn the unit around, in a blow to the German engineering company’s effort to win more revenue from its so-called green portfolio.

What you are seeing here is what I call "kick-back" economics. Overpricing and subsidizing will be the mantra. So those who are proud of this development should look in the mirror and be able to see the core of Pakistani problems.
