Exports of non-textile products rebounded and posted a growth of 13.6 per cent during the first four months (July-October) of the current fiscal year from a year ago.
The export proceeds from these products surged to $2.66 billion between July-October from $2.34bn over the corresponding period of last year, suggested data compiled by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
The export proceeds from the sectors were falling persistently since July 2014.
The rebound in export proceeds apparently is due to the support package the government has extended to non-textile sector under the prime minister exports enhancement package.

In the export package, the commerce ministry has separately announced additional incentives for non-textile products.

The support was announced for leather manufacturers, footwear, sports goods, surgical, engineering goods, furniture, meat and meat products, fish products and cutlery.
Data show an increase of 80.4pc year-on-year in exports of petroleum products. Petroleum products, petroleum crude and naphtha, led the increase in petroleum sector’s exports.
Last year, exports of these products witnessed a negative growth.
Exports of carpets and rugs witnessed a negative growth of 10pc during July-October period of the current fiscal year from a year ago.
However, sports goods exports dipped slightly by 0.14pc year-on-year during the months under review. Foreign sales of footballs were up by 7.68pc.
Tanned leather exports witnessed a negative growth of 4.27pc in July-October from a year ago.
Leather products’ exports declined by 9.5pc during the period under review.
All value-added leather products posted a growth of 2.48pc in exports proceeds in July-October. This growth was mainly led by sales of leather gloves.
Footwear exports fell by 3.82pc during the period under review.
This is the only sector which has the potential of growth, but exports from the sector was facing strong competition especially from Chinese exporters in European market despite preferential market access.
Exports of surgical goods and medical instruments went up by 12.8pc and engineering goods surged by 18.47pc during the period under review over last year.
Year-on-year exports of gur (jaggery) was up by 48pc, and molasses 911pc during the period under review. However, the exports of cement fell by 48.57pc, handicrafts 100pc, furniture 6pc, and jewellery 57pc during the first four months of the current fiscal year from a year ago.
In the food basket, exports of rice witnessed a decline of 9.85pc in the first four months of the current fiscal year from a year ago.
The increase was witnessed in exports of both basmati and non-basmati rice, which went up by 16.87pc. Exports of sugar and wheat are the other two major exports commodities which recorded a growth during the period under review.
Other products which also posted growth during the period under review are oil, fish, seeds, pulses and tobacco.

Excellent news. If we keep growing at this rate, very soon our exports will reach the same level of Zardari govt.

It is good to hear that Pakistan non-textile exports are increasing in this years as this exports will help the economy of Pakistan as will ease the economic crises in the country as Pakistan economy is still running on loans by foreign financial institutions.

So is CPEC !!!!!
In other words we(Pakistanis) were dancing like a headless chicken on CPEC over less than 10% of benefits.
Seems fair deal to you ?

Okay shah ji. We are talking over the incomplete information. But the subject does exist that China may be major benificiary. But what we had without it "Ruri zameen to licks the dust from it".
Every zee Shaoor person knows that we have to benifit from the roads and infra structure we got from CPEC.
Did we not get power plants which we needed along with it. Now We have to build industrial zones arround this structure.. Nobody every saI'd we can sleep now.

It has been less then a year when industry was supplied with non stop gas and power. The production cspacity was partially restored to compete the demands. Things are not going to turn around in a year. But it will get better Insha Allah.

& who was responsible for the decline in the first place???

Zardari govt was known as the most incompetent one plus. In their tenure Oil prices were at record high levels globally, there was a global financial crisis. the country was in a state of war & still their numbers were better.

So you have to imagine the incompetency of this govt to perform even worse than PPP tenure.
Some times its good to understand reality and accept it, I am not saying that there whole country is doomed. The point only is potential is huge, but due to neglect we are reaping very little reward.

I think part of Gawadar port was already operational in 2005/06, so its not that China started from scratch.

The infrastructure is built from loan / investment . Nothing is given to Pakistan for free.

My point on CPEC for the last 4 years remains the same that China needed the route badly, we could have negotiated harder and got better terms. e.g. leasing period could be 15 years instead of 40 years. More share of revenue to Pakistan, Chinese cargo will pay same road taxes as Pakistanis pay etc. & its not 100% Sharif;s fault. This deal was signed by our most clever politician ever Mr. Zardari.

In comparison, DP World (The holding company for its port) contributes the most amount of revenue for Dubai; more than oil It started operation in 1979 (37 years ago). We have seen the transformation of Dubai in early 2000 (20-25 years).

imagine how much we have lost, just due to our politicians greed and inefficiency. we don't need to survive on bare minimum always, we have the capacity to demand our rights.
