MUSIC - IT`S EFFECTS - Ustadh Nouman Al Khan

MUSIC - IT`S EFFECTS

Muslims are aware that nothing has been prohibited by Allah except that which is harmful to the welfare of a Muslim individual and the society as a whole. The divine attribute behind the prohibition of music can be comprehended by looking into the diverse influence music can have.

Experiments carried out by doctors and professors have confirmed that the music of today is such that it does not only affect the brain, but each and every organ of one`s body. There is a close relationship between music and bodily movements. We find that people listening to music automatically start tapping their fingers and feet, as if the music is permeating in their blood. It is also proved that music affect`s one`s emotions, increases arousal in terms of alertness and excitement and also leads to various physiological changes in the person. In a psychology experiment, it was found that listening to moderate type of music increased one`s normal heart beat, whilst listening to rock music the heart beat increased even further, yet people claim that music has no effect.

It is a very ignorant and misguided attitude to percieve music as a form of pleasure and passing of time, since the messages of today`s music follow a general theme of love, fornication, drugs and freedom. We find that the whole world is obsessed with the kufr idea of freedom, i.e. freedom of speech, freedom of movement, etc. In modern schools and universities, we observe independence, free expression and secular thinking being encouraged. This idea of freedom, " It`s my life, I`ll do what I want" is a predominant, underlying theme of today`s music. It is being used as a means for drilling those modern ideologies that are totally contrary to Islamic Shariah and values, into the minds of Muslims. One should abstain from evil audacities such as listening to music and encourage others to do the same too.

MAY ALMIGHTY ALLAH GUIDE US ALL TO THE STRAIGHT PATH - AMEEN!

Re: MUSIC - IT`S EFFECTS - Ustadh Nouman Al Khan

Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari ta’leeqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsool by al-Tabaraani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 91).

1) Allah Most High says:

“And there are among men, those that purchase idle tales, to mislead (men) from the path of Allah and throw ridicule. For such there will be a humiliating punishment” (Surah Luqman, V. 6).

The great Companion Abd Allah ibn Mas’ud (Allah be pleased with him) states in the explanation of the word “idle tales”:

“By Allah its meaning is music” (Sunan al-Bayhaqi, 1/223 & authenticated by al-Hakim in his Mustadrak, 2/411).

Imam Ibn Abi Shayba related with his own transmission that He (Ibn Mas’ud) said:

“I swear By Him besides whom there is no God that it refers to singing” (132/5).

The great Companion and exegete of the Qur’an, Abd Allah ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) states:

“The meaning of the word is music, singing and the like” (Sunan al-Bayhaqi, 1/221& Musannaf Ibn abi Shayba, 132/5).

Yeh wohi baat ho gaye kay mithaas zehar hai aik diabetic patient kay liye is liye all sweet things are haram (serious). Khuda ka kuch khauf karo Mile Stone, sorry to say but this time you have delivered a no monstrous “No ball” on the pitch of Islamic faith.

Bhai meray keep the things simple ok, Music becomes bad for those who are internally bad natured and can perform wonders for those who are kind natured and in need of it to soothe their vagrant souls. Why you don’t present the medical reports of those patients who show positive response to the mild, touching and melodious tunes by perfectly eradicating their psychological and physical ailments?

Kuch Khuda ka khauf karo yaar jabh is so called Ummat ka Mujadid e Azam yeh kehta hai kay Music & Ecstatic Dance are perfect tools for religious enrichment in his Kimeya e Sadaat tu baki kaunsay itnay baray danishwar bachtay hain jo music ko haram kahien who bhi us waqt jabh Quran aur Hadith (Majority of Authentic ones) main kahien bhi explicitly good music say mana nahi kiya geya?

Insinuation for absolute freedom, drugs, illicit relationship and racial slurs can even contaminate the sermon of a cleric of every recognised faith of the world so there should be no doubt in one’s realistic mind that the same kind of nefarious ingredients can spoil the broth of Music as well.

Tautay ki tarah Halal Haram pay Pay (Punjabi wala) na jaya karo think rationally and prudently before formulating your views or passing religious edicts / fatwas with the spur of a moment. Have a Dark Day!

Bahad e Ehtram Cheema sahab mager sir you're wrong and trying to unnecessarily extrapolate and exaggerate the content of Holy Quran and Bukhari’s Hadith. Sir g in this Hadith it is not meant “Explicitly and unequivocally” that Musical instruments are haram even if the Hadith scholars consider it to be authentic and I can give you an example. Beloved Prophet also mentioned in many of the akhbars (Yeh print wala akhbar nahi balkay Hadith ka alternative naam hai) of doomsday that near to the end of the world wealth will be increased exponentially?

Now wealth’s generation and its circulation is good for the growth and stability of any economy even a 7[SUP]th[/SUP] grade student will tell you that so now this means to forsake the efforts to generate this entity and plunge this recession stricken world further into its economic mess?

Khuda kay liye yaar its (Mentioning of musical instruments) just an indication of a sign which depicts the proximity of the final hour of this world it doesn’t necessarily means that mere their presence will cast the thick clouds of avarice and corruption. Again the principles of relevancy and utilisation come to the fore of their supposed nuisance. One has to be moderate of course in the usage and utility of such instruments but to totally outcast them with a stroke of a rhetorical word depicts the sense of extremism and utter immodesty.

And by the way when did the words of “Idle Tales” become synonymous to the single phrase of Music? Sorry but the last time when I checked the prevalent dictionaries of few major languages of the world these words seem to portray something else. Quran ko bhi taroor maror kay paish kariengay yeh internet Mullah. Al Amaan al Hafiz…. Ya Ali…oops (omg)I’ve committed another shirk by calling a “Departed” soul no matter how great in stature he is. Now the religious verdicts will be directed against your soul you specter of darkness, how dare you to commit this open Shirk. Kill Me Please! (serious)

Please try to understand before you pick your axe and start running after someone to cut their head.

I would request you to read my post again and listen to the video as well. I was just making the point that music has affect on us (it could be negative or positive).

Like Nouman Ali Khan mentioned that music now a days is like an audio porn, be it American music or bollywood music, it all takes you towards the shamelessness and make you waste your time. We hardly find any so called good music where the singer is calling us towards Peace, Justice or towards Allah etc…

Alcohol has good attributes as well, but the harm exceeds the good by a lot, and that’s the reason alcohol has been prohibited. Similarly, most of the music today takes you towards shamelessness and make you waste your precious time.

Please try this. Note people who listen to Qur’an in their cars, you would not find music cd in their car. Similarly, people who listen to music, you would not find Qur’an cd in their car. Its human nature, if someone loves Qur’an they would turn away from the this shameless music, and the person who listen to this audio pornography would get all kind of waswasas from shaitan, when the Qur’an cd is played.

Shamelessness "Lower Your Gaze" by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan

Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu 'alaihi wa sallam), by way of warning and as a reminder said, "There is nothing left after I go more dangerous to men than the temptations of women." [Al-Bukhaari]
