Re: Youth's Lack of Confidence in Islam - Nouman Ali Khan
Our real problem is not what others say about islam but what we ourselves claim about islam. A thinking christian has hard time accepting jesus is god or he is son of god in sense of one of three persons of Godhead. The question is why this causes problem for him? It is because this concept is far too difficult to rationalise even if not out right impossible.
The question is, if believing is all about blind faith then anyone can believe anything why reason things to begin with? However if you bring in reason then it is impossible to believe anything unless one things is more reasonable than the other.
Coming to islam and muslims, if what we claim is more reasonable than all that is out there then none can persuade us otherwise but if what we claim is less reasonable than what others claim then we are bound to change our minds.
So pushing make beliefs is not any defence against onslaught of reason therefore making stupid excuses on behalf of silly claims of our mullahs is not good for us or our future generations.
We must learn islam for what it really is and understand the quran as it is and not as told by ignorant or conning and cunning mullahs. This is why genuine debates and discussions are necessary within the ummah so that we have solid educational foundation that none can move us from. Blind faith is proof that people are ignorant.
The quran condemns people who follow even their parents when it comes to following what is proper. Muslims parents first and foremost duty is to educate their children in critical thinking and then teach them the quran so that they are based upon solid foundation to begin with. We have left our children's education to people who themselves have no idea what they are teaching and why.
If we want betterment of ourselves and rest of humanity only the quranic ideas can guide us if we have the bit of sense that is needed to understand the quranic message.
