Worst than a Diamond? O bhai Iqbal has used Diamond as a term to signify a person with quality i.e who has the ability to perceive, intelligent and worthy etc. Diamond is precious so your understanding and saying that Worst than Diamond? lol is totally off and your own meagure and incorrect translation. What made u come to this ? please enlighten us!
You are going for explanation of the verse. I am describing what word by words means.
As Saboo suggested , this verse was asked to Iqbal directly and was asked what the diamon and flower are referred as .
thats what Saboo wrote

Finally. I don't feel ashamed in being proven wrong.

I may be wrong. And I close this discussion on that note.

When I had said that I accept my mistake , but that did not satisfy your ego.
You had to throw insult by writing
" perhaps you should find some other poet and make him your favorite and join the Saboo league l "

Now read it again and again to satisfy your ego.

You were right and I was wrong. I will never read Iqbal Poetry again.

You were right and I was wrong. I will never read Iqbal Poetry again.

You were right and I was wrong. I will never read Iqbal Poetry again.

You were right and I was wrong. I will never read Iqbal Poetry again.

You were right and I was wrong. I will never read Iqbal Poetry again.

You were right and I was wrong. I will never read Iqbal Poetry again.

I hope that would help you to close the chapter.

Next time you see me discussing Iqbal toh mujh koh koi bohat mote galee dena.

Ab mujhay maaf ker do.

Zaidi Qasim Zaidi bhai , sharing this as a laughter here with you. Check this out - our colleagues were trying to translate a verse of Iqbal. You will be amused as being an " Ahlay Zabaaan"

Ok if it was a word to word then where does this come from " worst than diamond?" and why Diamond is bad to you? It is not your imagination that matters but the scholarly translation and what the actual words convey. Yours was very very incorrect that's why I intervened and corrected it. Baqi I doubt that Saboo's teacher ever met Iqbal or Quaid-e-Azam. Iqbal Passed away in 1938 and in Lahore. A Teacher going from Ali Garh to Lahore? he must be kid back then . Moreover Iqbal's Poetry was not taught in combined Indo Pak subcontinent i.e. prior to creation of Pakistan and as I pointed out he died in 1938. But then again how does it prove your wrong translation? whether he met or not met that professor. On this note, I am closing and not going to contribute on this anymore.!

An Example :

English Idiom : It is raining cats n dogs
Correct Translation : It is raining heavily
In correct word to word translation : Cats and dogs are downpouring from the sky

Conclusion : word to word translation is not linguistically and logically correct. You have to go with the correct translation which means that it is raining heavily.
