Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (1890 - 20 January 1988) (Pashto/Urdu: ??? ??? ?????? ???, Hindi: ???? ?????? ????????? ????) was a Pashtun political and spiritual leader known for his non-violent opposition to British Rule in India. A lifelong pacifist, a devout Muslim,[1] and a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, he was also known as Badshah Khan (also Bacha Khan, Pashto: lit., "King Khan"), and Sarhaddi Gandhi (Urdu, Hindi lit., "Frontier Gandhi").

He was initially encouraged by his family to join the British Indian Army; however the treatment of a British Raj officer towards a native offended him, and a family decision for him to study in England was put off after his mother's intervention.

Having witnessed the repeated failure of revolts against the British Raj, he decided social activism and reform would be more beneficial for Pashtuns. This ultimately led to the formation of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement (Servants of God). The movement's success triggered a harsh crackdown against him and his supporters and he was sent into exile. It was at this stage in the late 1920s that he formed an alliance with Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. This alliance was to last till the 1947 partition of India.

After partition, Ghaffar Khan was frequently arrested by the Pakistani government in part because of his association with India and his opposition to authoritarian moves by the government. He spent much of the 1960s and 1970s either in jail or in exile.

In 1985 he was nominated for the Nobel peace prize. In 1987 he became the first person not holding the citizenship of India to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award. In 1988 on his passing, he was buried in Jalalabad, despite the heavy fighting at the time, both sides in the Afghan war declared a ceasefire to allow his burial.



How can a party like ANP is loyal to pakistan if he is founder is ANTI PAKISTAN.The is hidden agenda behind renaming of Pukhtoonkhuwa.It can also be used to fuel pashtoon
insurgency in NWFP and FATA.It can also give new vision and life to demand of independent pukhtoon homeland

can we ask how tonns of expolsives materials and arms are coming to punjab from NWFP! if you read history of ANP you will find out they are most happy ppl seeing blood
all over pakistan specially NWFP and making their mission more easy to create separate
land for pushtoon! how can a party defy his founder.

It's common in a democracy for voters to vote out the incumbents for not running a good government. I don't blame the for throwing out JUI.

To be fair with them, that is history now.
They have travelled a million miles from that position and since then ground realities have changed so even if they want to take that political position, they will be rediculed by the masses.
ANP will remain in power for sometime as their opponent vote is devided and same PPP which declared them GHADAR will have no option but to keep in bed with them for the forseeable future to keep NS away from power.
But the saddest part is that Moulvi Diesel will keep the tilting balance and you guys know what that means yes a very happy [fazl]

There is difference between having political differences & hurting or creating hurdles in the cause of muslims at large. It is this difference which makes KAGK very very controvercial personality.
The people of that great province are very honorable and loyal,hardworking and good muslims,I have some very good friends from there and respect them tremendously.
Don't you think that there was any other way for ANP and KAGK to voice their concerns and work for Pakistan and NWFP than to allign with india,the arch enemy and biggest opposer/underminer of Pakistan?
Such alliances demonstrates an ulterior motive or extreme lack of political vision and either is dangerous for the nation. Personally I am not opposed to having the province of NWFP renamed if the people so desire, so what is stopping the ANP government from holding a referendum on the issue? It is the knowledge that most of the people living there will not be united on the name of Pashtoon khwah/Pakhtoonkhwah atleast.
Therefore they try to keep the issue alive rather than solve it so it can be used and viewed as an ace in the pack to pull out whenever needed.
If they are democratic then use democratic ways to solve the problem.

Relax people, puktunkhwa is not asking for a separate country ,especially their leaders because they will all die in this new country which will most likely be ruled by mullah omar if it ever comes into existence. Second the pathans of pakistan are not traitors ,its only the people abroad who make a big deal out of everything. No province of pakistan can survive on its own and everyone knows that, most of pakistans brains live in the cities so the concept of pakistan splitting further seems very unlikely atleast to me.
Pathans live in all part of pakistan and there is no denying that, if they opt for separate country then 5 million or so pathans will be forced to leave their land and money behind in other parts of paksitan. They also rely on sindh and balochistan and punjab for their water, gas and electricity distribution. Not to mention all the other trades like sugar,flour meat etc etc. Furthur more they have no direct route to the sea. We cannot survive without them and they cannot survive without us plane and simple ,same goes for kashmir, sindh balochistan and punjab and baltistan. We are one unit and we think as one unit. Pathans share the second highest quota in the armed forces after the punjabis, if there are pathans that want to destroy pakistan and punjabis in general they are mostly in the fata and aghanistan and cannot do much now because the army has the place sealed. We are not as weak as we look from the outside so chillax. The taliban need to be taught a bloody lesson and that goes for the afghan taliban too, we take it easy on them because they are muslim and because they are being attacked by the world but its time we put them back in their place. The taliban cannot survive without pakistans support so they are not trying to form their own country. If frontier was its own country or with afghanistan right now the american marines would be crawling all over the place. Same goes for the russian, if there was no pakistani border for the russians they wouldve walked in and kiled evryone in fata and other places of frontier. It is because of the durand line that the americans and the russian had such a tough time.

Lets not bring topics like these to the forum, the pakistani pathans are not traitors as i said before and i dont think ANP would be stupid enough to call for a separate state because they are cowards and politicians, and they know the price for such treason is a missile to the head and i dont think any of them has the guts to die for anything but their own selfish gains.
