Nowadays there is lot of news about Punjab Police Officer DSP Imran Babar Jameel. Apparently he captured some dacoits who told him they work for his senior SP Umar Wark. He was told to release those dacoits by his seniors. He instead arrange a news conference and presented his case to media. Now he has been suspended and the IG police has formed a committee to investigate this matter. He has refused to appear before the committee saying that the officers involved in this case are also in the committee. He instead wants a judicial officer to investigate this matter. He has appeared in television talk shows and he has now filed a request in the court to have a judicial officer investigate this matter. The police on the other hand has started digging dirt on him. They said that there have been 18 cases against him before for which he was suspended number of times.

What do you guys make of this case? Is free media and free judiciary giving government people strength to speak out against injustices?

LAHORE: The Punjab government has demoted Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Imran Babar Jamil to the rank of officer on special duty (OSD) for disciplinary reasons, which shows the double standards of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, the party, which once appreciated a police official who stood against his seniors, a private TV channel reported on Monday.
