Sunnat e Rasoon is things done by Rasoon Allah S.A.W. but that doesn't mean we will do each and everything done by Prophets. Certain things are even prohibited by Rasool Allah S.A.W For example He S.A.W fasted for straight 3 days but He S.A.W prohibited the Sahaba

Likewise, 11 marriages is an exception to Rasool ALLAH S.A.W only and not meant for us

You have to know and understand the circumstances that were prevalent when the edict was delivered. Without going into much detail Sura Nisa was delivered right after Battle of Badr. What happened in the battle of Badr? Most of the muslim men were killed. The prophet had a social problem on his hands. If he did nothing the windows would find some way to sustain themselves and their kids. If left to their own devices they would have hit the streets because they had no education, skills or talents. The only talent these women possesed was between the legs.
Prophet recognized the problem and allowed muslim men to marry more than one woman provided that the woman he married had orphans. The idea being to provide a system of support. Marrying a virgin as a second wife is a sin and the man would go straight to hell no questions asked.

He did well summarizing the verse within its context, but Instead of using this phrase, he should have said that Islam does not permit virgins to become second wives.
Unfortunately, most Mullahs & Muftis misquote the verses, leading uninformed people to believe that Islam allows for four wives

By the way, it was not Prophet who allowed it but the verse in the Quran.
