Imrans campaign and PTI Karachi
Greetings,
I am writing this because I felt clear vacuum in Karachi by PTI’s team. Like Lahore, Karachi is also urban center of Pakistan, rather I will say biggest and most sophisticated center. People of Karachi have different temperament as compare to Lahore.
Here are few things for the concern people (according to my little knowledge);
MQM:
Before campaigning in Karachi, one should understand that, MQM is reality in Karachi. They have vote bank, they have few youth with them and strong ground presence. But the majority of karachites are those who prefer to stay at home, they are silent working class majority and they doesn’t belong to any party. If PTI succeeds in mobilizing them, then surely it will change the dynamics of Karachi politics.
Winning:
I will be honest and realistic. PTI cannot clean sweep in Karachi. But if we all work together and focus constituency like for example NA250, NA251, NA252 and NA253. There are high chances that PTI will win. Even if PTI doesn’t win all seats, but manages to emerge as second largest political party of Karachi then I can easily say, “Job Well Done”.
Campaigning Techniques:
As urban center, in Karachi old and new campaigning techniques are needed. Few are as follow;

- Flags and Sign boards. (Old is gold, lacking currently)
- Posters and chalking. (It will create buzz all around, though not in favour of wall chalking)
- Using call and SMS services. (Best and unexplored section)
- No need to big Jalsas, but continuous car rallies can do the job.
- Whatever the planned number of camps are, double them right away.
- TRP – Focus communities more. There are many peace living and close communities living in Karachi. Start to focus on them. As door-to-door campaign is very difficult to achieve.

The so called "independent" Election commission of Pakistan is helpless in Karachi. MQM has strong influence here within the election commission. the officers and staff at the polling stations are being appointed with the recommendations of MQM. I am the eye witness of this. I have seen one MQM activist giving the letter of deputation of one of my colleague to one the polling stations in Karachi. I have seen the letter as well .... this is clearly prepoll rigging. an MQM gets majority of the votes like this in Karachi.
