معدود، لفظ عدد سے نکلا ہے، جسکا مطلب ہے گِنتی یا شمار۔
اب یہ آپکا اپنا فہم ہے کہ آپ اسکا مطلب یہ لیتے ہیں کہ گنتی کے دِن، یا شمار کیئے ہوئے دِن، جو کہ ہر قمری مہینے کے لیئے علیٰحدہ ہوتے ہیں۔ یا پھر آپ اسکا دوسرا مطلب لیتے ہیں کہ گِنتی کے دِن یا صرف چند دِن، جو کہ اردو زبان میں محاوراتی طور پر کہا جاتا ہے۔ عربی میں اس کے مترادف محاورہ الگ ہے۔

اوّل الذکر کے مطابق اسکا مطلب یہ بھی ہوسکتا ہے کہ ان دِنوں میں روزہ رکھا جائے جو کہ ماہِ صیام کے لیئے شمار ہوتے ہیں۔ جو کہ عددی لحاظ سے ۲۸ یا ۲۹ ہوسکتے ہیں۔

بعد الذکر کے مطابق یہ تعداد بس ایک روزے سے زیادہ ہو، تب بھی قابلِ قبول ہے۔

بہرحال، ذاتی حیثیت میں عبادات بندے اور اللہ کا مسئلہ ہے۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے ویسے بھی روزے کا حاصل بتلا دِیا ہے، جو ہے تقویٰ۔
ہمارے یہاں بہت سارے افراد ہونگے جو روزہ نہیں رکھتے، لیکن پھر بھی پرہیزگار ہیں اور بے تحاشا ایسے لوگ موجود ہیں جو کہ روزہ بھی رکھتے ہیں، لیکن جھوٹ، دھوکا، بے ایمانی، بے پردگی، بدلحاظی، بدتمیزی وغیرہ، کسی چیز سے بھی پرہیز نہیں کرتے۔ اب یہ کام اللہ تعالیٰ کا ہے کہ وہ کِس کا تقویٰ اور عبادت قبول کرتا ہے؟ اور کس کی عبادات اس کے منہہ پر واپس پھینک دیتا ہے۔ ہم بطور انسان اس بات کا نہ تو اختیار رکھتے ہیں کہ کسی کو روزے کا حکم دیں اور نہ ہی اس بات پر علاقہ رکھتے ہیں کہ کسی کو روزہ نہ رکھنے پر سرزنش کریں۔

یہ بات میں اسلیئے کہہ رہا ہوں کہ واقعی دیہاڑی دار مزدور سخت گرمیوں میں کام کرتے ہوئے روزہ نہیں رکھ سکتے۔ پانی کی کمی کی وجہ سے بیہوش ہوجاتے ہیں۔ اس لیئے،جہاں عذر کسی کی جان کا ہو، تو میرا بھی خیال ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ سمجھنے اور معاف کرنے والا ہے۔

لیکن ان کے بارے میں کیا جو کہ پورے مہینے کے روزے رکھ سکتے ہیں، یعنی ان کی جان کو روزہ رکھنے سے کوئی خطرہ لاحق نہیں، لیکن پھر بھی ذرا سی تکلیف کے پیشِ نظر ڈر کر روزہ نہیں رکھتے؟​

Righteousness does not consist of turning your faces towards the East and the West. But righteous is he who believes in God, and the Last Day, and the angels, and the Scripture, and the prophets. Who gives money, though dear, to near relatives, and orphans, and the needy, and the homeless, and the beggars, and for the freeing of slaves; those who perform the prayers, and pay the obligatory charity, and fulfill their promise when they promise, and patiently persevere in the face of persecution, hardship, and in the time of conflict. These are sincere; these are the pious (Muttaqoon))

لیکن ان کے بارے میں کیا جو کہ پورے مہینے کے روزے رکھ سکتے ہیں، یعنی ان کی جان کو روزہ رکھنے سے کوئی خطرہ لاحق نہیں، لیکن پھر بھی ذرا سی تکلیف کے پیشِ نظر ڈر کر روزہ نہیں رکھتے؟​

Lot of your biggest ulema including Late Dr Israr Ahmed concluded that for a great number of days it would be "mahdooda" as in great number (of days in this example), but "mehdodaat" is always a few (number of days as per this example) and according to him less than 9

And always the Quran is its own best tafseer.

Same surah verse 203 goes on to say :

وَاذۡكُرُوا اللّٰهَ فِىۡٓ اَيَّامٍ مَّعۡدُوۡدٰتٍؕ فَمَنۡ تَعَجَّلَ فِىۡ يَوۡمَيۡنِ فَلَاۤ اِثۡمَ عَلَيۡهِ ۚ وَمَنۡ تَاَخَّرَ فَلَاۤ اِثۡمَ عَلَيۡهِ ۙ لِمَنِ اتَّقٰى ؕ وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَاعۡلَمُوۡٓا اَنَّکُمۡ اِلَيۡهِ تُحۡشَرُوۡنَ‏

Recite the name of Allah during the given number of days. Then whoever is early in leaving after two days, there is no sin on him, and whoever leaves later, there is no sin on him, if he is God-fearing. Fear Allah and be sure that you are going to be gathered before Him.

The word "ayaamin mehdodaat" is used here again in this verse regarding Haj rituals, now who performs haj or any ritual of haj for 29 or 30 days? And who so ever returns after "youmain" which only means two days. So now we know minimum number of days to fast is 2 and maximum 9

Also your Ulema like Dr Israr Ahmed says and I think he is right that making things unnecessary hard for your self when clearly Allah has intended for you yusarah ( ease) and not usrah ( hardship ) could be defined as "Kufran-e-nehmat" i.e denying the favours and blessing of Allah has given you.

So there is no angle you can approach these Ayahs regarding siyam to mean fast the whole month.

Only problem is then all your biggest scholars "dandi maar ja te hain" and bring in some made up concept of abbrogation and then deviate from the message of Allah and inject their own books in there.

And because of that now the Muslims are stuck with out of season months and unnessacrily fasting for a whole month where Allah never commanded you to or made it mandatory.

Because as we all know, season lagana hota hai aur dukan chamkani hoti hai.

No its not. With all due respect, Dr Israr Saab ne phele khud kaha ke ayamin mehdoodat ka matlab 3 din hai aur wazeha bhi ker diya mehdooda aur mehdodat ka farak

Lekin phir wohi dandi maardi di ayat mansook ho jani wali saray moulvi maar tay hai jis ka mainay apni post mein zikar kiya hai, kyun ke phir Quran in ki hadess aur riwayat ke khilaf jata hai.

Not fast it, fast the complete month, or anything close to what we can consider a whole month. And the Quran does not shy away from details and if Allah had intended for us to fast the whole month he would have clearly said so.

Its like go to Lahore, and if you go to Lahore, you have completed the task. Does not say go to Lahore in a car, in a bus, walk to Lahore, or take the motorway to Lahore. The task is to go to Lahore, thats it.

But here we know we have to fast, when? Shar'a ( the real )Ramadan.

And for how long? "Ayaamin mehdodaat" i.e a few days.

Why? Because "Allah intends ease for you, not hardship" And certainly there is no "Yusra" in fasting for a whole hot scorching month

Reading and than understanding Qaran words is not easy. Even scholars do the translation as per their understanding ,and many school of thoughts have their own interpretation.
Holy Qaran has many sentences,many words, etc and it has many meanings.
But if we just wants to make our life easy to understand the Allah message, We must use our common sense that Allah never wants bad or hardship for human being.
Thanks to Allah, we are working in office, using phones,and other gadets, AC environments and other luxurious features but what about people who works under strong sunshine to make money for himself and family ONLY for food.
Or performing Haj is affordable for rich people and poor people die only with dreams.
Although, Haj is obligatory for all Muslims, but Allah said, IF you can than do Haj.
So also for fasting, IF you can than do fasting, 1 or 2 or 30 days...it is entirely on us Muslims....nothing is forced by Allah
