I think it was a golden chance for IK to show if he is willing to let past go and unite for the sake of the country. It could have been a good gesture to all the stake holders that IK is still viable and even in prison, still cares about the country and its people.

This is something the Government can now use to attack IK now. I think IK needs help not criticism.

You don't need to show any trust in leadership at the time when the unity is most demanded. You can still have your differences with military leadership and Government, yet show the confident to the people that you care about them in any time of difficulty.
