| ISLAMABAD: Entire district administrations and operational police setup would be changed with the fall of national and provincial assemblies, the sources placed in the relevant office of Interior Ministry, told The News. The officers, appointed on political influence, would especially be targeted and lists of the officers were being compiled with their political biases, to ensure uninfluenced upcoming general elections. The clean-up operation would cover the officers of the ranks from inspector generals of police to station house officers, the sources said and added, Almost, all IGPs and SHOs would be changed before the general elections as both offices could have effect on the election results. However, some modest unbiased officers, having good repute, could remain on the seats.The intelligence agencies have started collecting details of the officers with their political biases. The root-cause of the administrative change, as directed by the election commission of Pakistan (ECP), is to conduct transparent and unbiased general elections in the country, the sources maintained. All Commissioners, deputy commissioner/district coordination officers, IGs and SSPs/district police officers would be removed just before the establishment of the interim government to ensure transparent, foolproof general elections, free from all political influence and pressure. Even, most of the station house officers (SHOs) appointed on political backup, will be removed, the sources maintained. Almost all cities of Sindh and Khayber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and specific cities of the Punjab including Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Lahore and cities of Seraiki belt, would be changed as the reports declared they were appointed under political influence and have biases towards some political party and could use their influence for their favourite political party in the upcoming general elections, the sources disclosed. On the other hand, the provincial governments have started replacing top management of police and district administration, appointed on key posts, weeks before the dissolution of national and provincial assemblies to show their impartiality in future. |
