Let us share with you a secret :) The cap of Khilafat e Usmania was called Turkee Topi. It was Red, with a frill falling on a side. All Muslims used to wear it in the Ummah. Iqbal loved it and wore it also. Even today, The North African Muslims wear a dark Red FEZ cap which is a Turkee Topi without the frill. The national dress of Morocco has a bright Red Fez cap. Turks even fought a small war to save this cap called the "Hat war"! This red cap was a symbol of Muslim honor and only Kuffar made fun of it even then!

It has nothing to do with religion. It is a cultural piece of attire just like the Jinnah cap or the Nehru cap in the sub continent. Stop associating everything with religion.

My uncle used to wear it with frill and my grand father Pathans turban. We had fantastic
Islamic symbols and personalities.
Today some unaware people are making joke of it. Better they should wear cowboys hat !!!
