FORBES: The United States Department of Defense wants members of the public to unleash their inner Tony Stark and help design a new amphibious infantry vehicle. And theyll pay you a million dollars to do it.
The project is sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, or DARPA, the advanced research wing of the United States Department of Defense. Theyve set up three challenges the first of which launched today calling on innovators with expertise in designing and engineering to collaboratively design elements of a new amphibious infantry vehicle, the Fast, Adaptable, Next-Generation Ground Vehicle (FANG).
The FANG program is a key component of DARPAs Adaptive Vehicle Make portfolio, which takes a radically novel approach to the design and manufacture of a ground vehicle, according to the agency, tapping into the innovation of individuals and companies that may have new ideas.
