Blasphemy or mockery is a form of criticism. Criticism can also be answered with defense or counter criticism. Not with punishment
azeezam arif karim sb, mockery is no criticism at all rather it is nothing less than foolishness and stupidity. It means one is not taking something as seriously as it needs to be taken for ensuring well being of humanity. A proper human community in the kingdom of God is of utmost importance and deserves full respect and it is not something to be ignored or taken lightly or there is no good future for humanity at all.
Irish people got mad with english people making irish jokes. When white people mock black people, do black people love it or vice versa? No, they hate it and they start fighting over this issue. Anyone who is at the receiving end of mockery does not like to be mocked, so why mock someone or something? If one is unhappy about someone or something for some reason why not educate each other about it instead of mocking each other? Mockery only wastes our time and makes things worse. By mockery people only alienate each other instead of coming together to solve the actual issue between them. In other words ridiculing each other is no answer to anything rather it adds to our problems.
Read the quran through and you will not find anything that ridicules people or their beliefs and practices. One of the proofs that the quran is not from human beings. The quran is full of criticism of people, their beliefs and practices with explanations in order to help them educate themselves out of them. This is why a muslim cannot mock anyone or anything nor can allow mockery or ridicule by anyone, But anyone is free to criticise the quran or deen of islam to the contentment of one's heart with one's explanations as to why the quran or deen of islam is false or not good. This does not come under blasphemy.
regards and all the best.
