I already gave one indirect reference to Dajjal. Now, this is my second take with references only from Quran and Allah swt knows best. We cannot understand Dajjal without understanding what Quran has said about Jesus, especially the second coming of Jesus. We need to understand first according to Quran whether Jesus PBUH is already dead or whether he was never killed and was raised to Allah (swt). If he is dead then he is not coming back. But if he was raised alive then surely he need to die as Quran has already declared that everyone (including humans, jins and angels) will die except Allah (swt). We need to understand if he was raised alive then he must be in a dimension beyond this dimension of space and time. And that is why the physical laws of time don't apply to him until he returns back to this dimension of space and time. [It is another complex topic in which I will write sometime in the future if time permits].
Anyway let's see what Quran says about Jesus PBUH.
4:157: " - and for boasting, “We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah.” But they neither killed nor crucified him—it was only made to appear so. Even those who argue for this [crucifixion] are in doubt. They have no knowledge whatsoever—only making assumptions. They certainly did not kill him."
4:158: "Rather, Allah raised him up to Himself. And Allah is Almighty, All-Wise." The word used is رفعہ
The above two ayahs establish that Jesus PBUH was never killed. Instead Allah swt raised him to himself. Question is what 'raised to Himself' mean? Can we consider it death just like every other sould died. My explanation Allah swt raised Jesus up to the dimension beyond this dimension of space and time. And then just after this ayah the next ayah declares:
4:159 - "Every one of the People of the Book will definitely believe in him before his death. And on the Day of Judgment Jesus will be a witness against them."
The above ayah clearly states that all the people of the book (i.e. talking about Jews and Christians and to some extent you can also include Muslims in them as well, however mainly the ayah is talking about Christians and Jews) will believe in him before his death. This clearly shows that Jesus PBUH is not dead. Otherwise how come Jews (who right now don't believe in him) will definitely believe in him before his death? This shows that his death never happened and will occur sometime in the future and that death will happen in this dimension of space and time and not in that other dimension where Jesus is alive because it does not make sense if Jesus PBUH dies in that dimension because it is not different than as if he was already dead.
Also, this concludes that there need to happen some event in the future that will cause all the people of the book to believe in him (which actually means believe him as a messenger of Allah swt). The only event that make sense is the second coming of Jesus PBUH. Otherwise please explain what could be that event that all the Christians and Jews will believe in him as messenger of Allah swt?
If you don't come to this conclusion then please explain what you can conclude from above Ayahs?
Now, another ayah of Quran says about Jesus (you might declare that here Quran is talking about Prophet Muhammad PBUH but if you read the context of the ayah and read the Ayahs before and after then you will find that those Ayahs are talking about Jesus and it make sense that here Quran is talking about him as well.):
43:61 - "And his coming is truly a sign for the Hour. So have no doubt about it, and follow me. This is the Straight Path".
So, how come the coming of Jesus is a true sign of the hour if his coming Quran is discussing happened 2000 years ago? An intelligent mind can conclude that here Quran is talking about the future (or second) coming of Jesus PBUH.
So, now, once we have established the second coming of Jesus PBUH then the question to ask is why he will come back? What could be that big reason that he is going to come back? This we deduce from following discussion.
The concept of Dajjal is always tied to Messiah. Dajjal is nothing but a 'false Messiah' i.e. in Hadiths he has been called Al-Maseeh-u-Dajjal (i.e. 'false Messiah) which means someone who will claim to be Jesus PBUH but will not be an actual Jesus PBUH. Why someone would claim to be Jesus Messiah if it is not established that he is going to come back. Someone would only claim to be Messiah if he can established that he is Messiah which people will only believe if the people are already expecting the coming of Messiah. Otherwise if people are not expecting coming of Messiah then no one will belief him to be Messiah. E.g. If a person come in the future and declare that he is Michael Jackson, then no one is going to believe him until it was already well established among the masses that Michael Jackson is going to come in the future.
Now, when we look around, we see that almost all Jews, Christians and Muslims believe in the second coming of the Jesus Christ. So, from logic, it can be deduce very easily that someone can actually come and declare himself to be Messiah (just like Mirza Qadyani did). However, no one will believe Mirza Qadyani to be Messiah (and indeed no Jews and Christians have considered him Messiah) because he never ruled the world from Jerusalem. Whereas in the scriptures of Jews and Christians it is written that Jesus Christ will rule the world from Jerusalem. Now, if someone will come in future and declare himself to be Messiah falsely (and shows all the signs of the Messiah that will make most people to believe him), how come the people will realized that this Messiah is indeed a false Messiah (or Maseeh-u-Dajjal)? This can only be possible if the real Messiah also come at that time. Without that, whatever you will do, you won't be able to declare the 'false Messiah' as the false Messiah.
I hope you find this useful and rest Allah swt knows best.
