Jo dictatorship ka haami hai, woh jamhuriat ke khilaf hai
why she didnt talk about eliminating corruption and going after tax thieves and money launderers? Because Pakistan's India, Afghanistan, China, America policy isn't made by tax thieves. Second your mighty military has ruled Pakistan for 40 years, why didn't they eliminate corruption? And what about the corruption in our military? Apparently some 9 serving generals have been accused of corruption.
Military rule spans 30 years. Civilians have ruled for 38 years.
The only reason military steps in is because civilians fail miserably, and the public calls for the military to take over.
Have you forgotten the eid like atmosphere when Nawaz Sharif was overthrown in 1999?
Even when a relatively well liked PM like ZAB was hanged, the public sighed good riddance.
People still remember the Ayub era fondly.
Only twice in Pakistan's history has a head of state been invited to the US on a state visit. On both occasions, it was a military ruler.
Military rule is bad for the country, no question about it. But the civilians have to get their act together, reform institutions, and quit bull$hitting with the public.
Reform police, so that rangers and army dont have to be called in for law and order.
Reform FBR, so that taxes are received, and country doesnt remain a perennial beggar.
Reform electoral system, so that crooks have no chance of getting elected.
Military only steps in when civilians fail (we have heard that before a million times). Why doesn't Indian Army step in to remove Modi? Why didn't Admiral Michael Mullen step in to remove when President Bush (His policies were disastrous for a country u live in) was in power?
Secondly the reforms u were talking about. Why didn't the army do the reforms since civilians are so bad? How do reforms happen in country of 180 million by the way? do they happen overnight? Is Obama able to get the tax raise for the rich in his 6 year rule? Has Obama been able to reign into the defense spendings? How easy was it for him to get the healthcare reforms? I mean Pakistan Army is certainly not stronger, or powerful, or as advance as the American Army. But the difference between a civilized nation and uncivilized nation is the respect for rule of law and constitution. Pakistan's future lies in democracy, elected governments. Army dare not intervene. And nobody siting in America has the right to lecture Pakistani civilians to get their act together. Army should get its act together first.

Even when a relatively well liked PM like ZAB was hanged, the public sighed good riddance.
And then the very people that sighed good riddance, elected his daughter.
Hey...for that matter, they even elected her corrupter than corrupt husband, Zardari, so what happens, happens. I was talking about public sentiment of when army takes over.
I fully agree with Asma's statement. We should cut down budget of Army and shoukd have good relations with our neighbours including India.
So lets keep fighting India after we have already lost half of country. Lets do more kargils after getting butt kicked and international embarrassment. Lets keep buying weapons, lets keep making bombs, but keep our people illiterate. To you patriotism is only limited to the army.
