Hadith no: 1
Narrated / Authority Of: Umar bin Al-Khattab
who said : I heared the messenger of Allah salla Allah u alihi wa sallam say : "Actions are but by intention and every man shall have but that which he intended. Thus he whose migration was for Allah and His messenger, his migration was for Allah and His messenger, and he whose migration was to achieve some worldly benefit or to take some woman in marriage, his migration was for that for which he migrated." related by Bukhari and Muslim

A Short Biography of Imaam an-Nawawi
Imaam an-Nawawi (rahimahu Allaahu ta'aalaa - died 676 Hijree) was without doubt one of the greatest scholars this Ummah has been blessed with. His works have had a tremendous benefit and influence for the Muslims throughout history, and from amongst his works is his collection of 42 ahaadeeth of the Prophet sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam which together form a comprehensive explanation of this Great Deen of Islaam. This work is commonly referred to as "an-Nawawi's Forty Hadeeth" and without doubt it contains immense benefit and guidance. The complete name of Imaam an-Nawawi is Abu Zakaria Mohiuddin Yahya, son of Sharaf An-Nawawi. Nawawi refers to Nawaa, a place near Damascus, in the suburb of the city of Howran. Imaam an-Nawawi was born at Nawa in the year 631 A.H.(about 1255 CE) His father, a virtuous and pious man, resolved to arrange for proper and befitting education as he had discovered the symptoms of heavenly intelligence and wisdom in his promising child at an early stage.

The Imaam's Simplicity and Good Manners:

The learned persons, elite of the society and the public greatly respected the Imaam on account of his piety, learning and excellent character. He used simple dress and ate simple food. Devout scholars do not care about worldly chattels, they give preference to religious and academic pursuits, and the propagation of Faith. They experience more heavenly delight and joy in such activities than those who seek satisfaction in luxurious foods, precious clothes and other worldly things. Imaam an-Nawawi had a prominent place among the erudite notables of his age. He was a God-fearing person having illustrious and glorious aims regarding the propagation of Faith. The celebrated Shaykh Mohiuddin expresses his impression about Imaam an-Nawawi thus:

"Imaam an-Nawawi had three distinctive commendable qualities in his person. If anybody has only one out of these three, people turn to him in abundance for guidance. First, having knowledge and its dissemination. Second, to evade completely from the worldly inclinations, and the third, inviting to all that is good (Islam) enjoining Al-Ma'ruf [i.e., Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do] and forbidding Al-Munkar [polytheism and disbelief and all that Islam has forbidden]. Imaam an-Nawawi had all three in him."

His works and his death:
The learned Imaam had a very short life but even during this short period, he had written a large number of books on different subjects. Every work of the Imaam is a masterpiece and a treasure of knowledge. Hundreds and thousands of people benefit from these works. Some of his works :

  • Al-Minhaj fi Sharh Sahih Muslim - A Commentary on Sahih Muslim
  • al-Arba'een (ie The Forty Hadeeth)
  • Riyaad-us-Saliheen
  • Kitaab-ur-Raudah
  • Tahdheeb-ul-Asmaa was-Sifaat
  • Kitaab-ul-Adhkaar
  • At-Taqreeb fee Ilmil-Hadeeth wal-Irshad feehi
  • Sharh Sunan Abee Dawood (Incomplete)
  • Tabaqaat Ash-Shaafi'iyyah
  • Muhimmatul-Ahkaam
  • Bustaan-ul-'Aarifeen
  • Al-Khulaasatu fil-Hadeeth
At about the age of 45, Imaam an-Nawawi returned to his hometown. Soon after his arrival at Nawaa, he fell ill and died. However, Imaam an-Nawawi is still living in the hearts of Muslims. His works are of everlasting value. May Allah have Mercy upon him.

JazkAllah brother Pakistani1947 for sharing information about great personality of Islam. You really pleased me today with this post. It is very important for us to share common subjects to create unity instead of referring to differences.

Imaam an-Nawawi (Rehmat Ullah Alaihi) was indeed a legend.

Hadith-e-Rasool S.A.A.W

Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho): Allah's Messenger (sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) said, "Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, 'The night is long, so stay asleep.' When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart."

HADITH-e-RASOOL SALLAHU ALAIHI WASALLAM

Narrated Abu Huraira (R.A.):
Allah's Apostle (S.A.W.) said, "If somebody gives in charity something equal to a date from his honestly earned money ----for nothing ascends to Allah except good---- then Allah will take it in His Right (Hand) and bring it up for its owner as anyone of you brings up a baby horse, till it becomes like a mountain." Abu Huraira said: The Prophet (S.A.W.) said, "Nothing ascends to Allah except good."

Do You Pass?

Prophet Muhammad pbuh said: None of you is truly a believer until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself. [Muslim]

If you get two similar things, one for yourself and one to give as a gift, which one do you keep? You have passed the test of eeman (faith) if you give the better one away. If you give the inferior one away then you need to cultivate your eeman. Strangely, if you behave as though you had eeman, i.e. give the better one away for the pleasure of Allah (subhana wa ta'ala), even though you dont feel like it, then eeman will automatically develop in you. Eeman and behaviour are mutually reinforcing.

Once Rasul Allah pbuh had two miswaks (natural toothbrush). One was crooked and the other was straight. Since Allahs Prophet pbuh was of the finest character, he truly wanted everyone else to have the best. So he gave the straight miswak to his fellow Sahabah and kept the crooked one for himself.
Is this what you practice in your transactions or do you wish that no one had a car, house, children, education, job or clothes better than yours? Does the good fortune of others make you happy or unhappy? The sign of a true Muslim is that they are happy at the good fortune of others and sad at the misfortune of others.
