“We detest daughters! We hate them so much that we kill them before birth. And we kill them after birth! We kill them as they take their first breath. We kill them while they are suckling infants. We kill them as they learn to walk. We kill them as they learn to talk and say ‘mama’ and ‘baba.’ We kill them as they learn to smile and trust, and love, and ask for their favorite foods – mangoes or sweets. We kill them as they learn to play with their friends, and listen to stories about fairies, princesses, and far away dreams. We kill them because we hate them. We kill our daughters in the millions.”
This is the message that India’s, just released, 2011 census data sends out.
The data reveals that in the age group 0-6 years, the gender ratio is 914 girls to 1000 boys. [HI]Which means, for every 1000 boys, there are at least about 60-70 girls under the age of 6 years who were killed before or within 6 years after birth.

This is the lowest gender ratio recorded since India’s Independence in 1947.
What is important to note here is that this data is not just about the systematic prevention of birth and continuity of females through sex-selected feticide, but it is also about the widespread and systematic killing of girls who are 6 years and under. How are these girls being killed?
It has long been known that little girls in India are often deliberately subjected to hunger and neglect. It is a cruel form of torture, for often it is how a family vents its anger on the daughters for being born as girls. Many are dying of malnutrition and/or starvation. If a girl falls sick, the family often will not take her to the hospital or buy her medicines. [HI]A 2007 UNICEF report affirmed that girls under-5 years in India had a 40% higher mortality rate than boys the same age. This essentially is negligent homicide.[/HI]
HOMICIDAL VIOLENCE
A 2011 report on a study conducted jointly by the Indian Council of Medical Research and the Harvard School of Public Health confirmed that girls under 5 years in India were dying at an abnormally high rate because they were being subject to inhumane violence at home by their families. [HI]The study observed that girls were 21% more likely than boys to die before their 5[SUP]th[/SUP]birthday because of violence.[/HI] And infant girls, who were one year and younger were 50% more likely to die because of violence than boys that age. The head researcher commented, “Shockingly this violence does not pose a threat to your life if you are lucky enough to be born a boy.”
PRE-MEDITATED MURDER
Female infanticide has a long history in India, and chillingly each region has had its own established, traditional way of killing infant girls, methods that include drowning the baby in a bucket of milk, or feeding her salt, or burying her alive in an earthen pot. In a study by the Registrar General of India published in 2010 in the medical journal “The Lancet,” a curious factor came to light.[HI] Girls in India of the age 1month to 5 years were dying of pneumonia and diarrhea at a rate that is 4-5 times higher than boys that age.[/HI] The study makes a critical observation — that the skewed survival rates for girls are a reflection on social bigotry against girls. But real question is what accounts for this abnormal difference in rate and why these two medical maladies in particular?
The answer is provide by author and journalist Gita Aravamudan, in her book Disappearing Daughters (Penguin Books, 2007), which is based on her research from more than two decades of field investigations of female infanticide and feticide in India. She observes that old, traditional methods of killing infants can be immediately detected in case infanticide is suspected and an police investigation is launched. She says
“[To avoid arrest] families adopt more torturous methods of killing [infant girls]…Female infanticide I found had become more ‘scientific.’[HI] Inducing pneumonia was the modern method. The infant was wrapped in a wet towel or dipped in cold water as soon as it was born or when it came back home from hospital. if, after a couple of hours, it was still alive it was taken to a doctor who would diagnose pneumonia and prescribe medicine, which the parents promptly threw away. [/HI]when the child finally died, the parents had a medical certificate to prove pneumonia. Sometimes the infant was fed a drop of alcohol to create diarrhea: another ‘certifiable disease.’ (pg.22)

Few few goofs around here who either do not understand or act they havent, that no body condemns the child Malala, but its the symbol Malala raised by US or UN which represents the only source of suppression of the women rights such as education are the talibans, no body calls it a drama cz it revolves around Malala the child, and no body doubts or disagree with the annihilation of this evil called TTP from Pakistan, but its the Bigger terrorist US who all people condemn and whatever this terrorist country supports automatically gets disapproved by the people of Pakistan, the only question they ask is why is just one girl Malala goes on to be a celebrity and all the other families who have been deprived of there loved ones either by TTP or drones not even reached once by this so called UN, i think about a child who got disabled in a bomb blast, who lost a leg or an arm, whats the difference in his/her case and Malala's??

ملالہ کے اقوام متحدہ سے خطاب کو ابھی ایک ہفتہ بھی نہیں گزرا کہ تحریک طالبان کے ایک صاحب نے ان کو ایک خط لکھ ڈالا۔ اس خط کو مقامی اور بین الاقوامی میڈیا میں کافی پذیرائی حاصل ہوئی ہے۔
اس خط کے مندرجات پاکستانی اخبارات کے قارئین کے لیے نئے نہیں ہیں اور اس قسم کی فضولیات ہمیں اکثر اوریا مقبول جان یا انصار عباسی کی طرز کے افراد کے مضامین میں دیکھنے کو ملتی ہیں اور ٹی وی پر یہ افکار پھیلانے کا ٹھیکہ زید حامد اور اس قماش کے لوگوں نے اٹھا رکھا ہے۔
خط میں تعلیمی اداروں پر حملوں کی وضاحت کی گئی ہے۔ یہ البتہ نہیں بتایا گیا کہ آخر لڑکیوں کے سکول ہی خاص طور پر کیوں نشانہ بنائے جاتے ہیں؟ اور اگر ملالہ پر حملے کی وجہ اسکا تعلیم کی حمایت میں بات کرنا نہیں تھا تو کیا ایک پندرہ سالہ نہتی لڑکی اتنی طاقت ور ہو گئی تھی کہ طالبان کی اس سے ذاتی دشمنی ہو گئی تھی؟
انگریزی تعلیم کو تمام برائیوں کا جڑ بھی ان صاحب نے کوئی پہلی دفعہ قرار نہیں دیا۔ یہ الزام بھی اب بہت قدیم ہو چکا کہ انگریزی تعلیم یہودی بنا دیتی ہے اور یہ کہ سر سید احمد خان فری میسن تھے۔ لارڈ میکالے پر تنقید ہر دوسرے روز ہوتی ہے (حالانکہ میکالے کی ایسی کسی تقریر کا ریکارڈ تاریخ میں موجود ہی نہیں)۔
پولیو کے قطروں کی مخالفت، اقوام متحدہ کی بے بسی، آبادی میں کمی کی مخالفت جیسے موضوعات تو ہم مساجد کے خطبوں میں بارہا سن چکے ہیں۔ ڈرون کا ذکر آتا ہے، ریمنڈ ڈیوس کی بات ہوتی ہے، عافیہ صدیقی کا ڈھنڈورا پیٹا جاتا ہے۔ یہ سب باتیں ہماری غیرت بریگیڈ کئی سال سے کرنے میں مصروف ہے۔ برٹرینڈ رسل کا تڑکا البتہ ایک نئی چیز ہے اور ثابت کرتا ہے کہ تعلیم کے مخالف طالبان نے بھی ہماری غیرت برگیڈ سے زیادہ کتابیں پڑھ رکھی ہیں۔
آخر میں ملالہ کو دعوت دی گئی ہے کہ وہ سوات واپس آئیں، خواتین کے کسی بھی مدرسے میں داخلہ لیں، اور اپنے قلم کے ذریعے عالمی سازشوں کو بے نقاب کریں۔
اب تو ایک طالب نے بھی ملالہ پر حملے کی حامی بھر لی ہے، شائد اب ہمارے پڑھے لکھے جاہلوں کے دماغی ہیضے میں کچھ افاقہ ہو۔ اس خط میں ہمارے اس طبقے کی نظریاتی کشمکش کی تمام علامات موجود ہیں اور تاریخ کا جس طرح بیڑہ غرق کیا گیا ہے، وہ ایک روز مرہ کی چیز ہے۔
عدنان رشید پاکستان فضائیہ میں بحیثیت ائیر مین کئی سال گزار چکے ہیں اور پرویز مشرف پر حملے کی پاداش میں انھیں سزائے موت سنائی گئی تھی۔ بنوں جیل پر حملے کے بعد وہ وہاں سے فرار ہو گئے۔
نوائے افغان جہاد نامی رسالے میں انکا انٹرویو پچھلے کئی ماہ سے قسط وار چھپ رہا ہے۔ اس رسالے کا تعارف اسکے اپنے الفاظ میں ملاحظہ کریں:
قارئین کرام! عصر حاضر کی سب سے بڑی صلیبی جنگ جاری ہے۔ اس میں ابلاغ کی تمام سہولیات اور اپنی بات دوسروں تک پہنچانے کے تمام ذرائع، نظام کفر اور اس کے پیروؤں کے زیر تسلط ہیں۔ ان کے تجزیوں اور تبصروں سے اکثر مسلمانوں میں مایوسی اور ابہام پھیلتا ہے، اس کا سدباب کرنے کی ایک کوشش کا نام نوائے افغان جہاد ہے۔
عدنان رشید کے انٹرویو کے چند چیدہ چیدہ اقتسابات مندرجہ ذیل ہیں؛
جب 9/11 کا واقعہ ہوا تو اس کے بعد میڈیا اور ہر جگہ، ہر محفل میں اور فوج کے اندر بھی یہ باتیں ہوتی تھیں کہ کیا یہ حقیقت ہے؟ شیخ اسامہ کو حوالے کرنے کے مسئلے پر بھی بہت بات ہو رہی تھی، میری ان حالات سے غیر معمولی وابستگی تھی۔ افغان مجاہدین سے مجھے بچپن سے محبت تھی کیونکہ وہ بچپن میں میرے علاقے میں آتے تھے، وہاں مساجد میں رہا کرتے تھے، تو ہم انکی خدمت کرتے تھے۔
جب ان لوگوں نے یہ فیصلہ کر لیا کہ ہم امریکہ کا ساتھ دیں گے تو ہم نے کھلم کھلا یہ اعلان کر دیا کہ یہ غلط ہو رہا ہے اور ہم خیال لوگوں سے ملنا شروع کر دیا، تو ایسے لوگوں کی اچھی خاصی تعداد ہو گئی۔ پھر ہم نے سوچا کہ ایک ترتیب ہونی چاہیے، نظم ہونا چاہیے تو و ہ ترتیب بھی بن گئی۔ ہمارا یہی کام تھا کہ ہم لوگوں کو دعوتیں دیں اور لوگوں کو بتائیں کہ یہ غلط ہو رہا ہے۔ ہم نے لوگوں کو اس بات سے آگاہ کیا کہ پاکستان کے نام پر آپ کو گمراہ کیا جا رہا ہے۔ کفار کے ساتھ دوستی ٹھیک نہیں ہے۔ ہم لوگ جب پکڑے گئے تو مشرف نے اپنی کتاب میں لکھا کہ یہ لوگ ملا عمر کے وفادار تھے اور انہوں نے ملا عمر سے وفاداری کا حلف لیا ہوا تھا۔ ہم فخر کرتے ہیں کہ دشمن نے الحمدلاللہ یہ گواہی دی ہے کہ یہ ملا عمر کے وفادار تھے۔ ہم تھے بھی اور ہیں بھی، ہم نے غائبانہ امیر المومنین کی بیعت کی ہوئی تھی۔ یہ کوئی ڈھکی چھپی بات نہیں تھی۔
ہم میں سے ایک ساتھی ائیر بیس کوئٹہ میں میرے ساتھ تھا۔ میں نے اسے ترتیب میں شامل کیا۔ پھر دعوتی لٹریچر تقسیم کرنا، جہادی سی ڈیز تقسیم کرنا، شیخ اسامہ کی سی ڈی الحل تقسیم کرنا ہماری بنیادی ترتیب تھی۔ فوجیوں سے پیسے جمع کر کے مجاہدین کی امداد کرنا بھی اس میں شامل تھا۔
ابھی حال ہی میں سیاچن میں جو ان کے لوگ مارے گئے ہیں، ان میں کتنے ہی لوگ شیعہ تھے۔ ان کو بھی یہ لوگ شہید کہتے ہیں۔ اب اس حالت میں معاشرے میں نہ علماء بتاتے ہوں، کوئی اور بتانے والا نہ ہو تو پھر یہی حال ہو گا۔
ان اقوال زریں کو پڑھنے کے بعد ہم یقین سے کہہ سکتے ہیں کہ اگر اس طرح کے نظریات کے لوگ پاکستانی فوج میں پنپ سکتے ہیں تو اسامہ بن لادن اتنے سال ایبٹ آباد میں بھی گزار سکتا ہے۔ کئی جگہ تو یوں بھی لگا گویا ہم نوائے وقت کا اداریہ پڑھ رہے ہوں۔ بحرحال، یہ ہے ہماری سرحدوں کے محافظوں کی ذہنی حالت۔

جب 9/11 کا واقعہ ہوا تو اس کے بعد میڈیا اور ہر جگہ، ہر محفل میں اور فوج کے اندر بھی یہ باتیں ہوتی تھیں کہ کیا یہ حقیقت ہے؟ شیخ اسامہ کو حوالے کرنے کے مسئلے پر بھی بہت بات ہو رہی تھی، میری ان حالات سے غیر معمولی وابستگی تھی۔ افغان مجاہدین سے مجھے بچپن سے محبت تھی کیونکہ وہ بچپن میں میرے علاقے میں آتے تھے، وہاں مساجد میں رہا کرتے تھے، تو ہم انکی خدمت کرتے تھے۔
جب ان لوگوں نے یہ فیصلہ کر لیا کہ ہم امریکہ کا ساتھ دیں گے تو ہم نے کھلم کھلا یہ اعلان کر دیا کہ یہ غلط ہو رہا ہے اور ہم خیال لوگوں سے ملنا شروع کر دیا، تو ایسے لوگوں کی اچھی خاصی تعداد ہو گئی۔ پھر ہم نے سوچا کہ ایک ترتیب ہونی چاہیے، نظم ہونا چاہیے تو و ہ ترتیب بھی بن گئی۔ ہمارا یہی کام تھا کہ ہم لوگوں کو دعوتیں دیں اور لوگوں کو بتائیں کہ یہ غلط ہو رہا ہے۔ ہم نے لوگوں کو اس بات سے آگاہ کیا کہ پاکستان کے نام پر آپ کو گمراہ کیا جا رہا ہے۔ کفار کے ساتھ دوستی ٹھیک نہیں ہے۔ ہم لوگ جب پکڑے گئے تو مشرف نے اپنی کتاب میں لکھا کہ یہ لوگ ملا عمر کے وفادار تھے اور انہوں نے ملا عمر سے وفاداری کا حلف لیا ہوا تھا۔ ہم فخر کرتے ہیں کہ دشمن نے الحمدلاللہ یہ گواہی دی ہے کہ یہ ملا عمر کے وفادار تھے۔ ہم تھے بھی اور ہیں بھی، ہم نے غائبانہ امیر المومنین کی بیعت کی ہوئی تھی۔ یہ کوئی ڈھکی چھپی بات نہیں تھی۔
ہم میں سے ایک ساتھی ائیر بیس کوئٹہ میں میرے ساتھ تھا۔ میں نے اسے ترتیب میں شامل کیا۔ پھر دعوتی لٹریچر تقسیم کرنا، جہادی سی ڈیز تقسیم کرنا، شیخ اسامہ کی سی ڈی الحل تقسیم کرنا ہماری بنیادی ترتیب تھی۔ فوجیوں سے پیسے جمع کر کے مجاہدین کی امداد کرنا بھی اس میں شامل تھا۔
ابھی حال ہی میں سیاچن میں جو ان کے لوگ مارے گئے ہیں، ان میں کتنے ہی لوگ شیعہ تھے۔ ان کو بھی یہ لوگ شہید کہتے ہیں۔ اب اس حالت میں معاشرے میں نہ علماء بتاتے ہوں، کوئی اور بتانے والا نہ ہو تو پھر یہی حال ہو گا۔
ان اقوال زریں کو پڑھنے کے بعد ہم یقین سے کہہ سکتے ہیں کہ اگر اس طرح کے نظریات کے لوگ پاکستانی فوج میں پنپ سکتے ہیں تو اسامہ بن لادن اتنے سال ایبٹ آباد میں بھی گزار سکتا ہے۔ کئی جگہ تو یوں بھی لگا گویا ہم نوائے وقت کا اداریہ پڑھ رہے ہوں۔ بحرحال، یہ ہے ہماری سرحدوں کے محافظوں کی ذہنی حالت۔
