PTI to launch tsunami march after Qadris show
LAHORE In a bid to reestablish its street power, which is overshadowed by Dr Tahirul Qadris long march, the PTI leadership has decided to launch its tsunami marchagainst the dual office of the president after the conclusion of TMQ sit-in, The Nation has learnt.
Party sources said that the PTI top policy making body, Political Strategy Committee (PSC), sensing the need of direct action, decided to launch its long march to press President Zardari to step down.
They added that the focal point of the march would be the dual office of the president as the PSC thought that the PPP might accept other demands but it would not send President Asif Ali Zardari home.
The PTI leadership may give the march call after intra-party polls, sources said, adding that other likeminded parties would be invited to take part in the march under the leadership of Imran Khan.
All leadership tiers of the PTI will be asked to be ready for the tsunami march at short notice.
According to sources, Tahirul Qadri telephoned Imran Khan on January 14 and invited him to jointhe sit-in but the PTI chief politely refused, wishing him success. The PSC regretted that Nawaz Sharif did not agree with their demand regarding the resignation of President Zardari who had violated all agreements with the PML-N.
The members opinedhow on earth the PML-N chief could expect transparent elections under President Zardari, the co-chairperson of the PPP.
The PSC members reaffirmed their stance regarding the seven-point agenda decided for continuing building pressure on the ruling coalition for its acceptance.
They said that many of the issues raised by Dr Qadri were already part of PTIs agenda of change andthe party had been raising them since long.
The PTIs top policy making body meeting held under the chairmanship of Imran Khanand was attended by Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Shafqat Mehmood, Jahangir Tareen, besides other members of the PSC.
