PRESS RELEASE

Islamabad (July 29, 2011)

The Islamabad protests will change the political landscape of the country. In 1947, during the month of Ramadan, Pakistan was born and now again in the month of August 2011 during Ramadan, the foundations of a new Pakistan that Quaid-e-Azam envisaged would be laid.

These comments were made by the Chairman PTI, Imran Khan while presiding over a meeting of party office bearers, civil society representatives, lawyers, doctors, teachers, women groups at the partys central secretariat in Islamabad on Friday evening. The meeting was called to discuss the arrangements for the weekend of protests in front of Parliament during the month of Ramadan.

The PTI Chief said that the peaceful protests during the month Ramadan would herald a revival of the dream our forefathers envisioned for us 64 years ago. The August demonstrations would be both peaceful and family events that would revive the spirit of Pakistan and unite all segments of society against the self serving despotic rulers. He exhorted the party workers to bring Pakistan flags as a sign of unity.

The PTI Chief said that the August demonstrations would also be in defense of the Supreme Court and the Constitution. He said the defiance of the government to implement the verdicts of the Supreme Court cannot go unchecked. Instead of implementing the verdicts of the Supreme Court, the government has chosen the path of confrontation. This confrontation would be the last nail in the coffin of the present government.

The PTI Chief stressed that the month of Ramadan teaches us to sacrifice and cleansing of the body and soul. It is time we cleanse our body politic of the cancer in the form of the present government that is rapidly eating away the vital organs of the state.

The PTI Chairman Imran Khan said the findings of the recent opinion polls show the complete lack of trust by the people in the leadership of ruling parties. The winds of change are blowing. The nation should expect a new beginning after Eid.
