The provincial leadership has been staying in Bannu since yesterday to monitor the settlement of IDPs personally. According to President Azam Swati, one lakh and 81 thousand IDPs have entered the province so far and the provincial government has completed preparations for their shelter. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers were also busy in contributing with the government voluntarily. He said that all basic facilities will be provided to the IDPs including water and health facilities.

PTI empowers chairman to dissolve K-P Assembly

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has empowered its chairman to direct the chief minister to dissolve the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly if the federal government did not verify votes in four constituencies of the National Assembly where the party claims electoral fraud took place in the 2013 general elections. The decision was unanimously passed on Wednesday evening.


There had been a hue and cry in the K-P Assembly after PTI chief Imran Khan’s statement on Tuesday in which he said the assembly would be dissolved if the government did not meet the party’s demands.

The dissolution card: Imran Khan’s comments draws opposition’s ire


Imran Khan’s comments regarding the dissolution of the house came under heavy criticism by opposition lawmakers who staged a walkout from the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly on Wednesday, only to be wooed back in.


Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) lawmaker from Lakki Marwat, Munawar Khan, on a point of order, said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has threatened to dissolve the provincial assembly and questioned whether the house was Imran’s personal estate. He asked whether the provincial assembly’s raison d’tre was so the PTI chief could use it as a political tool for his opponents, threatening to dissolve it every now and then.


Imran Khan said during an interview on Tuesday that he could dissolve the K-P Assembly and join hands with Dr Tahirul Qadri if the government denied his party justice.

The long journey: Around 9,000 candidates apply for teaching assistant post

Around 9,000 candidates from seven districts of Malakand Division appeared for the Higher Education Department Recruitment test for the post of teaching assistant at Swat Grassy Ground on Friday.


The test, conducted by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Education Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA), was earlier set for June 21 but then rescheduled to June 27 at the eleventh hour.


However, the bigger issue for candidates coming from Chitral was the long distance they had to cover to reach the district. They have now demanded separate venues for ETEA tests in future.
