The Quranic verses in reference might not prove the categorical permission to four marriages but these or any other verse from Quran doesn't stop from polygamy categorically.
What U mean "might not", The Quranic verse approve but with the beginning condition of "Orphans" and ending condition of "fairness and justice to all wives, if that will be the case", OTHERWISE CATEGORICALLY it is stated "THEN ONLY ONE WIFE"
If someone denies the RIGHT of 4 marriages,
Who can dare that. But the things should be taken in their true perspective.
he should come up with a strongly denying verse or prove that there were no evidences in the recent history of Prophet (SAW) or during his time among the Sahaba (RA).
Quran had been completed, Now there is no space or provision of anything more.

Mine objections have been that people when justify four marriages concept, do not
quote the verses in their totality and in their true perspective. They omit the opening conditonal clause or even words of "And If Ye fear that ye will not deal fairly by Orphans". Unfortunately as far as I have heard the Ulema, they even did not mention this aspect and that is something concealing the Quranic injunction and on such people Allah has cursed.

babadeena you are a confused man and trying to confuse every one...
meaning of the verse of quran is quite clear:

English Translation of the chapter AlNisa Verse 2 and 3

"2.And give unto orphans their property and do not exchange (your) bad things for (their) good ones; and devour not their substance (by adding it) to your substance. Surely, this is a great sin.

3. And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan-girls then marry (other) women of your choice, two or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one or (the slaves) that your right hands possess. That is nearer to prevent you from doing injustice.

Urdu Translation of the chapter AlNisa Verse 2 and 3

( ???? ???? ?? ???????? ??? ) ??? ??? ??? ???? ?? ?? ????

please read the above verser again and again...first part of the ayah no. 3 cleary shows that its kind of advice that if you fear you shall not be able to deal justly with Orphan girls then dont marry them and instead marry other women of your choice, two or three or four. and if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with these women then only marry one..

it means that polygamy is conditional with the just attitude.. if you are confident that you can deal justly then you are allowed to marry 2 or 3 or 4. and if you fear you will not be able to deal justly then only marry one.

The same thing is described in one of the narrations of Bukhari Shareef:

???? ????? ??????? ???? ?? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?? ???? ????? ??? ???? ???? ???? ???? ??? ??? ?? ??? ????? ???? ?? ?? ?? ?? ??? ??? ??? ????? ?? ??? ?? ?? ?? ???? ?? ?? ???? ???? ?? ?? ????? ?????? ?? ??? ???? ?? ??? ?? ???? ? ???? ????? ?? ?? ??? ?? ???, ?? ??? ?? ??? ?? ???? ????? ?? ???? ????? ???? ?? ???? ?? ?? ?? ?? ??? ?? ?? ???, ?????? ??? ????? ?????? ?? ??? ???? ? ????? ??? ?? ( ???? ?????, ???? ???????

Moreover, it is quite clear that multiple marriages has always been part of Islamic society before and after the advent of Islam. No Quranic ayah is there to restrict or stop that practice instead the above ayah is confirming to continue that practice by allowing upto 4 marriages, there are 100 of cases of Sahaba as well as in the case of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (salall laahu alaihi wasallam) that they kept more than one wife at one time. No Islamic scholar has every gone against this practice and instead it has been proved that practice of polygamy is beneficial for the society and specially for women. But of course dealing justly with all is the most important condition and if any one fears than he should just marry only one.

@ Such-bolo!!!!
At last you made it my day. It is not "advice" it is "Hukam=Order" Oh man, read the whole thread, I am all along say that "Orphan Girls" condition has to be taken into account. This is first condition of indulging into Polygamy. "Just attitude" condition is the middle one and the Third and Last is "ONLY ONE". You seem to be more Confused than any one else. I am saying again and again that :
a) Take the verse in Full.
b) Take the part(element) of Orphan Girls,
IF YOU FEAR TO DEAL WITH ORPHAN GIRLS,THEN POLYGAMY
Now decide your self where is the "blank permission in Quran"

What a confusion. Before the advent of Islam, the Society was "Islamic". Fantastic.
Yes Quranic Aya is there unfortunately you do not wish to see that Aya which
implictly restricts to only ONE WIFE. Here it is:
"Ye will not be able to deal justly in wives, how much ardently you wish to do so....." When Allah is saying that oh man you cannot do the justice then accept the reality. Unfortunately, Men have lust for multiple women and they wish to justify it through the prism of Quran and Sunnah. Your next post should be please more clear and less confused. Take my advice concentrate more on Quran and it will guide you to Straight Path.
