Eid ul Azha is approaching.
Mufti Munib ur Rahman has already stirred up a controversy saying sacrificial animals cannot be bought online. It reminds us of the Muftis of Khilafat e Usmania who declared printing press haram for 300 years pushing muslims back while the west progressed ahead. Later on, after having done the damage, same muftis declared the press as halal.
This year due to Corona virus and the soaring population in cities, the govt would do well to promote the concept of collective qurbani which is within sharia ambit and is also environment friendly compared to the litter of offals from individual qurbanis permeating the streets and galis posing a health threat.
