Jinnah had agreed to give Khalistan.

Pakistan’s Jinnah offered Sikhs an autonomous Khalistan but entire Sikh leadership was taken into confidence by the Indians with false promises and assurances that has till date, not seen the light of the day

While 1984 has become synonymous with Operation Blue Star, there were numerous events the same year that saw a massive amount of harassment and pain inflicted on the Sikh community. Sometimes it helps to go back and revisit these events to understand and remind ourselves of the grave agony and injustice caused to the Sikh community and how it continues till date.

Indira Gandhi’s warning to Sikhs

image-1.png

Sikhs in Punjab were issued a warning by the Indira Gandhi Government that they would be treated as a minority with no rights if they didn’t accept to the terms of the Government. The intention was to ensure Sikhs don’t speak out freely about the harassment caused to them but instead, accept everything that was said by the Hindu majority. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale’s (“Sant”) famous line still is strong on our minds – “One Sikh can take on 20 Hindus”. In the fury of this statement, he was threatened with legal action while nothing was done with Indira Gandhi’s threats. In the period following this, innumerous Sikhs were killed, dozens of Gurdwaras were burned and hundreds of establishments owned by Sikhs were looted and plundered by Hindus under the orders of Bhajan Lal, Chief Minister of Haryana. No action against the Hindus was taken.

Assassination Attempt on Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale

Harchand Singh Longowal (“Longowal”) was the President of the Akali Dal during the Punjab insurgency of the 1980s. Having signed the Punjab accord, also known as the Rajiv-Longowal Accord to withdraw their agitation in return for their demans being accepted made his famous, but also put him in bad light with the ones that were fighting for a free Punjab, one where Sikhs were not subjected to discrimination.

interesting info, shows that history is not always so simple as we are taught!

Even though Qaud-e-Azam had promised, I dont think that his successors would have kept the word. Our bureaucracy and establishment has gone back on their words alot of times. from the state of Bhawalpur, alienation of East Pakistani Bengalis to the still unsettled matters of Evacuee properties (after more than 70 years) prove that nobody keeps their word!

Hindu have the instinct of sanke and they also have history of betrayal ---- Hindu used them against Muslims and Muslims against Sikhs to kill each other in 1947
Sikhs and Indian Muslims ( who didn't migrated then ) paid very heavily for their mistakes in 1947 and still paying
1984 was the worst for the Sikhs and 1969 was the beginning when Hindus started killing Muslims in Gujrat and then Modi
Thank God we have a country and we should appreciate this

Jinnah had basically accepted an autonomous Khalistan with its own govt, institutions, laws, police force etc etc within the boundries of a new Pakistan but Sikh after repeatedly accepting additional demands upon demands from Master Tara Singh and other leaders Jinnah finally signed a blank piece of paper and gave it to them and said fill in any terms and conditions you like and I will blindly accept them as long as you accept joining Pakistan. Other than get down on his knees and beg he did everything.

But Tara Singh and the Sikh leadership betrayed their own people and decided to become slaves of hindus instead of becoming a free and autonomous nation.

Unlike Nehru, M. A. Jinnah was a principled man and a man of his words. If he had promised Sikhs Khalistan, then he definitely would have given them their own homeland with all the fairness.

Modi has now endorsed that Jinnah was correct in his two nation theory, i.e. Muslims and Hindus are two separate nation. Today Modi is doing the same thing that India is for Hindus only and that others have no place there.
