Neither this is a head office of multinational company nor a international standard software house, This is simply a KP School as was promised by PTI.

KP minister, adviser to CM sacked for poor performance







PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman Imran Khan has removed a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister and an adviser to chief minister, belonging to his party, from the provincial cabinet for poor performance and charges of corruption.


PTI sources said that Provincial Minister Shaukat Yousafazi and Adviser to Chief Minister on Transport Yasin Khalil were sacked for showing poor performance. Five others ministers and advisers, who also faced charges of corruption, were warned to mend their ways, they added.

PESHAWAR: The UNDP’s Refugee Affected and Hosting Areas on Friday provided furniture for students and teaching staff in government primary and high schools in three union councils of the provincial capital.


A ceremony in this regard was held at government high school in Academy Town of Sufaid Dheri union council here. Provincial lawmaker Yasin Khalil, RAHA’s national programme director Arshad Majeed Mohmand, advisor to chief minister on environment Haji Fazal Elahi, additional director education Hamid Mehmood, RAHA’s provincial programme manager Shukriya Syed, teachers and elders was also in attendance.


The participants were informed that RAHA, with the financial assistance by the government of Japan, had provided furniture to 12 boys and six girls’ schools in Malkanddhair, Sufaid Dheri and University Town union councils of Peshawar, benefiting around 8,788 students. Similarly, furniture had been provided to teachers of these schools.

Polio counter being set up at Bacha Khan AirportPESHAWAR:

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has planned to open a special counter at Bacha Khan International Airport within a day or two to issue polio vaccination certificates to passengers going abroad.
The directive for the purpose was issued by Provincial Health Minister Shahram Khan Tarakai to the health department during a meeting here on Friday.
According to a handout, the minister directed the officials to complete all the arrangements to open the counter within 24 hours. The decision came in the wake of the recent statement of World Health Organisation (WHO) regarding ban on Pakistanis travelling abroad in view of the growing number of polio cases in the country.

ADB promises support for mega projects

PESHAWAR: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has assured the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government of complete technical and financial support for the mass transit, road, water, energy, irrigation and employment generation projects.


The assurance was given to Chief Minister Pervez Khattak by an ADB delegation during a meeting in Islamabad, said a handout issued here.


ADB country director Werner E Liepach led the delegation, while MNAs Dr Imran Khattak and Sheharyar Khan Afridi, adviser to chief minister on economic affairs Rafaqatullah Babar, additional chief secretary Khalid Pervez and the communication and works secretary assisted the chief minister.

CHITRAL: General officer commanding of 45 Engineers Division of the Pakistan Army in Swat Major General Akhtar Jamil Rao on Friday inaugurated work on the building of a women vocational training centre in Chitral.

During the groundbreaking ceremony here, Major General Akhtar said after restoring peace and normalcy in Malakand division, the Pakistan Army was busy developing physical infrastructure for educational and health facilities and safe drinking water schemes.

24MW hydropower project to bring progress to Mansehra

MANSEHRA: The people of Siren valley have welcomed the construction of 24 megawatts Jabori hydropower plant in the region and expressed the hope that the project would usher in an era of progress and prosperity.


“We assure the government that the people of valley will not only give their lands for project but also extend all possible cooperation for the smooth execution of the hydropower project,” said former National Assembly candidate Shabbir Ahmad Khan during a jirga in Jabori on Friday.

[h=1]Work begins on mass transit project feasibility

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has accelerated work on Peshawar Rapid Mass Transit System to ease the traffic pressure on the main thoroughfares in the provincial metropolis.


According to a handout, Chief Minster Pervez Khattak was informed during a meeting here on Monday that about 400,000 commuters used the route daily.


During the meeting, it was stated that Rs2 billion were estimated cost of the corridor that would be completed in one year while the entire project including all the six corridors would be completed in three years at a cost of $630 million.


The project included 26 kilometres Chamkani to Hayatabad rail corridor-I; road corridor-VI along the same rail track; corridor-III from Warsak Road to Kohat Road via Saddar, AK Afridi Road and Kohat Road; corridor-IV from Charsadda Road to Bara Road terminal near Ring Road via Saddar, corridor-V consisting inner city circular road and Ring Road.

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has pledged to provide $1 million grant for its feasibility and $7 million soft loan in case of progress on it.
