LAHORE: Former Punjab governor and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Punjab president candidate Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has announced a protest campaign to help empower the local government elected representatives. He said the PTI would not let the PML-N to run one-man show in the province. Sarwar was addressing a party convention organised by the Insaf Tiger Force (ITF) in Aziz Bhatti Town on Sunday. Sardar Kamal Umer, MPA Dr Nausheen Hamid, Youth Wing’s Chaudhry Waseem Ramay, ITF Punjab President Sania Kamran, former central youth wing president Obaidur Rehman and others were present on the occasion.
Sarwar said the grant of Rs 250 million funds to the treasury MPAs is a dacoity on government’s exchequer and demanded that the development funds should be given to the local government representatives. He said the rulers’ corruption would be exposed, when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would start investigating in Punjab.
He said the PML-N and PPP were on the same page against NAB and added that corruption, excesses and injustices could never be eliminated in the presence of the incumbent rulers. He said Imran Khan had the vision to change the fate of the country. Sarwar said the PML-N had remained drenched in corruption and that was why it was afraid of NAB investigations. However, he said, the PTI would not let the PML-N escape the hook and stressed that every corrupt person should be brought under the scanner without any discrimination. He said the PML-N government in Punjab was extending step-motherly treatment to the opposition MPAs. He also regretted that the PML-N had a majority in local government institutions but still it was not giving development funds to them. He said the PTI would launch a campaign and help them get their due funds and power. Sarwar said the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was clean and presented itself for accountability but the PML-N rulers were afraid of NAB in Punjab.
