The US officials involved in war policy claimed that the killing of Osama bin Laden has cleared the way for USAs exit from Afghanistan, and it could pave the way for reconciliation with the Taliban. President Barack Obama after the US Special Forces killed Osama bin Laden declared: Over the years, Ive repeatedly made clear that we would take action within Pakistan if we knew where bin Laden was. That is what weve done. There are many conspiracy theocracies insinuating the ISI, but going by the above statements, it appears that the CIA had scripted the drama after making inroads in Al-Qaeda, and bin Laden was brought to the area very close to military academy and not far from the garrison. Naturally, if the ISI or Pakistan was involved, they would not have provided him the type of residence in Abbottabad that any keen intelligence agent would have gone after it. There is a perception that efforts were being made to bring the ISI into disrepute because this agency is eyes and ears of the armed forces. A Pakistani columnist has been pointing out in his articles that the US eyes Pakistans nuclear assets, and to do that efforts are being made to make the ISI and military weak and ineffective.
CIA Director Leon Panetta has said that either Pakistan is incompetent or involved. A day earlier, he said that Pakistan was not informed about the plan, as it could have informed bin Laden about it. But the Pakistani media are asking many more questions. An editor and some anchor persons have been questioning the rationale behind the huge allocation for defence. These brilliant media men and analysts do not understand that such an embarrassing situation can crop up in any country regardless of how big and mighty it may be. For instance, firstly, 9/11 was a monumental intelligence failure of the American army and its agencies; and bear in mind that the US was already the sole superpower at that time. But nobody suggested to reduce the allocations or downgrade the CIA or the army. Secondly, America and the NATO allies make the best war machine in the world, but they had failed to locate Osama during the last 10 years. It is worth mentioning that hundreds of CIA agents and Blackwater personnel have been roaming around that area and must have had noticed that compound. As for Pakistan, there is indeed a lot of embarrassment and an ISI official, reportedly, admitted its embarrassment for having failed to capture Osama bin Laden, which needs a lots of guts and moral courage to say that.
