I live in USA and yes Najam sethi is right many Pakistanis here including me mention our selves as Indians. Its not that we love india but its because our own country Pakistan is known as a terrorist state, which is tregic for us.

It's the media that fails to distinguish between Indians and Pakistanis due to "India" being synonymous with the British Raj they see us all in the same light! Most food from the subcontinent is advertised as Indian food not because we want for it to but the aforementioned reason again takes effect.

Kebabs and Biryani were introduced by Muslim's where as Samosa's were first sold at Lahore railway station. This is why many Pakistanis are trying to reclaim their lost heritage that Indian's are wrongly credited for.

Anyone who has attended a Pakistani Cricket match at Lords or Edgbaston will tell you that the love for Pakistaniat is in our blood but we have no control if others lump us all together. Indian's in the west are also often seen as "Pakis" much to their annoyance so it works both ways.

I have never known any Pakistani that calls himself an Indian so it's all down to experience.

Indeed we Pakistani's never fail to correct anyone who mistakenly take us for an Indian....same as Chinese may take offence to be considered Japanese or Italian taking offence to be considered Greek. We may look alike but have our own distinct identity of sorts. its a matter of awareness vs. ignorance. The Pakistani media should take the responsibility as well as the individual. I have never seen any Pakistani who try to hide their identity even when we won t20 in Eng. Pakistani they came out on streets andcelebrate Pakistan victory on that time I as living in Toronto and I stillremember b4 that world cup when we lost to india in final I never saw any Indian who came out on thestreet and celebrate their victory same thing when I was working in magnaautomotive industry in that place wealways show our identity as pakistani when someone ask this question are you Indian ? we always reply no we are from Pakistan I’m talking about those days when 9-11 was just occurred and those days were very tough for us but still wedon’t hide our identity but one thing I don’t understand why our ppl who run restaurant or grocery store they call Indian grocerystore or Indian cuisine.
