I don't think he will get into any trouble, coz there are many journalist who have contacts in Taliban and this is nothing new journalist need such contacts for News. About Hamid Mir's contacts with Taliban and Alqaeeda every one knows about it, he is one of those journalist who interviewed Osama Bin Ladin. If any thing had to happen it must have happened si far.

Let me be the devils advocate (instead of a devil :) ) for a minute, could this not be an ISI operative who is installed in Taliban, becasue the ease of tone of conversation indicates that they have regular conversations and Hamid Mir would not risk being so careless, although commander has a point that there is nothing new in having contacts in different Jihadi and Taliban groups.

This logic can be extended to Fauzia Wahab's recent annoyance with Ansaar Abbasi in when the investigative jounralists get the official papers leaked to them. If we go by the book, it is illegal but no court is going to punish them for this such acts.

Finally who knows, HM may also be on ISI or MI payroll.

I dont know why people automatically assume that the guy on the other side is some sort of Taliban frontman? One thing is that the guy is definitely a Punjabi from his accent. He is someone from a Punjabi outfit. Secondly he doesnt seem to be directly involved with KKs kidnapping. He points out that it is some other outfit who has got him with Col. Imam.

Thirdly what part of this conversation actually 'implicates' Hamid Mir as an 'agent' for the TTP? Can anyone explain? Is he planning anything with the guy? Is he instigating any violence? Is he talking of any monetary deal?
Please point out exactly what he says that makes you think he is working for TTP or CIA? Infact he is saying stuff AGAINST CIA and its operatives.

I think more than anything this implicates Khalid Khwaja as an agent.

People who are calling him an agent are really confused and/or have their judgment clouded by Zaid Hamids rabid hate-mongering.

u can not compare bin laden interview to this scandal, he interview it for the ppl around the world but this didnt seem for the news , he was asking punjabi talib to ask this and ask that to kk and convincing them to not let him go just like that, if he had so much against kk and he believed tht kk is a rat, thn why doesnt he use his pen and program to tell the ppl of pakistan or to supreme court off pakistan to take care of kk about him why he uses the platfom of talibans to punish khalid khwaja, hamid mir shld be investigated for the murder of kk
